Responsibilities
- Operational Excellence: Manage day-to-day database health, including error monitoring, log reviews, backup/recovery verification, and capacity planning.
- Performance Engineering: Lead performance monitoring and tuning efforts to resolve instability or latency issues in production environments.
- Infrastructure Strategy: Perform regular assessments of existing environments (Oracle 11g, 12c, and 19c) and provide recommendations for disaster recovery and solution refreshes.
- Security & Compliance: Identify and mitigate security vulnerabilities, implement patches, and manage user profiles/auditing to maintain a robust security posture.
- Documentation & SOPs: Create Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to enable non-DBA operational staff to assist with routine environmental duties.
- Technical Leadership: Implement approved architectural changes and provide guidance for incorporating future database requirements into the environment.
- Knowledge Transfer: Develop and execute comprehensive plans to transfer specialized technical skills and knowledge to internal staff members.
Qualifications
- Senior Expertise: 10+ years of experience deploying and administering Oracle databases in mission-critical, large-scale operations environments.
- IAM Specialization: 5+ years of experience specifically supporting Oracle IAM suite databases.
- High Availability: 10+ years of experience designing and implementing high-availability database environments (RAC, Data Guard).
- Modernization: Proven knowledge of migration strategies for Oracle 11g, 12c, and 19c.
- Systems Proficiency: Experience with Oracle on Solaris 10 (Sun Platforms) and RedHat Linux environments.
- Process Mastery: 10+ years of experience with ITIL processes (Problem, Change, and Release Management) and quality assurance practices for databases with 10,000+ records.
- Troubleshooting: Extensive experience triaging and diagnosing complex database issues under high-pressure scenarios.
