Responsibilities
- Prepares, monthly, quarterly and annual financial and management reports, ensuring compliance with relevant accounting policies and applicable financial reporting
standards (IFRS, US GAAP);
- Assists with managing the financial reporting process;
- Investigates, researches, and analyzes information for financial reporting, including collaboration with the Technical Accounting Team and divisions
- Supports and maintains process documentation to ensure SOX and C-SOX compliance for areas of responsibility;
- Prepares ad-hoc reports required, including statistical surveys and other non-GAAP reports;
- Develops and formalizes accounting policies in collaboration with the Technical Accounting Team;
- Performs detailed assessment of the accounting, reporting, and presentation
requirements for transactions under IFRS and US GAAP; and provides training and coaching to other team members.
- Analyses and accounts for acquisitions / business combinations, dispositions and related transaction costs;
- Liaises with the Treasury team for debt and equity accounting, including deferred financing costs, interest accrual and prepaid interest;
- Prepares or reviews the consolidated cash flow proof and internal key performance metrics;
- Prepares or reviews the accounting for decommissioning liabilities and environmental provisions, including working with the Environment Team and divisions for cost
estimates and other assumptions;
- Prepares or reviews the accounting for share-based compensation, including stock options, RSUs and DSUs;
- Prepares or reviews the legal provisions, foreign exchange calculations (realized/ unrealized calculations) on debt balances
- Prepares or reviews accounting for hedge accounting, embedded derivatives and non-controlling interests;
- Prepares or reviews the annual goodwill impairment test and impairment indicator analysis for tangible and intangible assets;
- Oversees the administration, accounting, and timely reporting for leases in the lease accounting system, maintains accurate lease schedules and provides accounting
guidance on leases to various divisions;
- Actively participates in process and system improvement projects;
- Develops and enhances procedures to ensure a high standard of data accuracy and efficiencies as required;
Qualifications
- Extensive experience in financial reporting
- CPA designation (highly valued asset)
- Background in a public company environment (strong asset)
- Ability to adapt quickly in fast-paced settings
- Proficient with ERP systems
