You will play a key role in an ongoing enterprise systems modernization project to decommission legacy Kronos platforms and consolidate workforce management, scheduling, and time-tracking directly within Workday. Working closely with an onshore core squad (solution architects, chapter leads, functional SMEs) and a dedicated offshore technical engineering team, you will drive business process configurations, manage quarterly PI planning deliverables, execute EIB mass uploads, support semi-annual Workday release cycles, and deliver advanced workforce management solutions.
Duration: 12-Month Contract (Full-time engagement)
Work Arrangement: On-site / Hybrid (4 days on-site, Monday to Thursday; Friday work-from-home)
Advantages
Enterprise Retail Footprint: Directly impact the workforce operations and daily employee experience for a 30,000+ member employee base spanning multi-banner retail stores, dealer-managed operations, and distribution centers.
Modernization & Legacy Consolidation Scope: Play a pivotal functional leadership role in the strategic migration away from legacy Kronos to native Workday Scheduling and Time Tracking capabilities.
12-Month Stable Consulting Horizon: Secure a foundational full-year mandate with ongoing quarterly Program Increment (PI) planning and continuous product roadmap delivery.
Collaborative Hybrid Delivery Model: Work alongside an established internal Chapter pod of Solution Architects, Chapter Managers, and functional SMEs while directing high-volume technical deliverables with dedicated offshore developers.
Responsibilities
Module Ownership & Functional Design: Serve as the functional Subject Matter Expert (SME) owning the configuration, enhancement, and sustainment of Workday Scheduling and Workday Time Tracking modules across diverse business units.
Business Requirements & Process Optimization: Partner with retail banner operations, corporate HR, and distribution center leaders to translate multi-banner business rules into scalable Workday configurations (business processes, condition rules, eligibility logic, and custom notifications).
Decommissioning & Modernization Support: Drive functional analysis, configuration, and data reconciliation activities supporting the planned decommissioning of Kronos and the consolidation of workforce management into Workday.
Offshore Development Coordination: Collaborate with offshore development teams to assign, guide, and validate heavy technical configuration and development packages, utilizing Jira, Q-Test, and ServiceNow for delivery tracking.
EIB Mass Data Management: Build, test, validate, and execute Enterprise Interface Builder (EIB) mass uploads for tenant data maintenance, schedule patterns, and policy updates.
Release & Regression Governance: Lead the functional planning, regression testing, and impact assessments for Workday’s semi-annual feature releases and cyclical business events.
Defect Triage & Production Support: Investigate complex business process errors, time calculation discrepancies, and data flow issues, partnering with technical teams to ensure continuous data integrity between Time Tracking, Payroll, and HCM.
Qualifications
Workday Hands-On Experience: 4 to 7 years of deep, hands-on functional configuration and administration experience specializing in Workday Scheduling and Workday Time Tracking within a large-scale enterprise environment.
Workday Certifications: Must possess official Workday Certification (Workday Certified or Workday Pro in Time Tracking, Scheduling, or Core HCM). Candidates must possess proven post-certification operational expertise.
Retail & Complex Workforce Exposure: Strong functional understanding of complex scheduling policies, shift differentials, and time rules supporting hourly, full-time, part-time, and seasonal employees across retail stores and distribution centers.
EIB & Data Tooling: Demonstrated proficiency building, testing, and troubleshooting Enterprise Interface Builders (EIBs) for bulk data transactions.
Integrated HCM Knowledge: Broad cross-functional working knowledge of interconnected Workday modules, including Core HCM, Payroll, Compensation, Benefits, Absence Management, and Talent.
Agile & ITIL Delivery: Familiarity participating in Agile ceremonies (e.g., quarterly PI planning workshops) and using delivery management tools such as Jira, Q-Test, and ServiceNow.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Human Resources, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent practical industry experience).
