Responsibilities
- Sustain day-to-day operations of the mainframe network environment. Manage daily operational changes, incident resolution, and problem management.
- Plan, configure, and support the installation of new mainframe hardware platforms and modern processors.
- Configure and maintain core protocols including TCP/IP, VTAM, NNM, and TN3270. Ensure secure communications by implementing AT-TLS (Application Transparent Transport Layer Security) between clients, servers, and the mainframe.
- Provide end-to-end support for migrating mainframe networking components and decommissioning legacy network applications and hardware.
- Produce detailed Methods of Procedure (MOPs) for all changes. Acquire network captures, analyze data, and document root cause analysis (RCA).
- Build new infrastructure utilizing automation according to design criteria. Integrate critical services such as identity management, logging, and monitoring.
- Provide on-call/standby support as required. Maintain Service Level Agreement (SLA) metrics and perform comprehensive knowledge transfer to internal teams.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated knowledge and operational support experience with Mainframe Networks in large-scale, enterprise environments.
- Deep technical experience with TCP/IP, VTAM, NNM, NDM (Connect:Direct), and specialized printing/delivery software.
- Practical experience implementing encryption layers for secure mainframe-to-client communications.
- Proven track record in mainframe hardware refresh projects and modernization activities.
- Ability to utilize network diagnostic tools to articulate and document root cause through packet captures.
- Exceptional stakeholder management skills with the ability to negotiate processes and document technical intelligence for both technical and non-technical audiences.
