We’re looking for a Senior Software Developer to join a team building a next-generation data platform for a Cash Equities business — a critical platform that will serve as the central data store and distribution layer for trades and orders.
This is an opportunity to work at the intersection of Java, real-time data streaming, cloud technology and financial markets, supporting capabilities including surveillance, regulatory reporting and downstream financial processes.

Responsibilities
Build and maintain high-performance Java applications and services
• Design event-driven architectures and real-time streaming pipelines
• Develop and operate Kafka-based streaming solutions
• Work with GCP technologies including BigQuery, Dataflow, GKE and Cloud Storage
• Build scalable data transformation and distribution pipelines
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues in a critical platform environment
• Contribute to platform reliability, performance and ongoing modernization
• Collaborate with technology teams across Canada, the US and India
Qualifications
We're looking for a strong Core Java engineer — not simply a data engineer.
Must-have:
✅ 8–12 years of software development experience
✅ Strong Core Java expertise — Java 17, moving toward Java 21
✅ Kafka experience
✅ GCP / cloud data engineering experience
✅ Strong understanding of data structures, data modelling and transformation pipelines
✅ Functional programming experience in Java
Nice to have:
➕ Apache Flink
➕ Spring Boot / Microservices
➕ Terraform / DevOps
➕ Production support experience
➕ Financial services / capital markets experience
Don't have a financial-services background? No problem. Strong technical skills and the ability to understand complex data and application implementations are what matter most.
