Responsibilities
- Lead and conduct Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs) for a variety of projects, from medium to high complexity.
- Develop and implement privacy policies and procedures.
- Provide expert privacy advisory and support to business teams and stakeholders.
- Assess and identify privacy risks, and create effective mitigation plans.
- Interpret and apply privacy legislation, including PHIPA and FIPPA, to address privacy inquiries and issues.
- Participate in committees and project teams as the privacy Subject Matter Expert.
- Develop and deliver privacy training sessions.
- Create data flow diagrams and related privacy controls.
- Review and provide advice on data sharing agreements.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in health privacy, with a focus on conducting PIAs.
- Over 5 years of direct operational privacy experience in a health or IT environment.
- Demonstrated experience developing privacy policies, procedures, and controls.
- Familiarity with EMR or HIS infrastructure, design, and data flows.
- Knowledge of information technology concepts that impact the protection of personal information, including system interfaces, information security, and data flows.
- An undergraduate or graduate degree in a relevant field such as health, policy, IT, security, or law.
- Knowledgeable about PHIPA and FIPPA.
