Responsibilities
- Privacy Impact Assessments: Lead and execute PIAs for initiatives ranging from low to high complexity, ensuring all technical and operational risks are documented and mitigated.
- Policy Development: Design and implement privacy policies, procedures, and operational controls tailored to large-scale IT environments.
- Risk & Incident Management: Lead investigations into privacy incidents and respond to patient inquiries or formal privacy requests, ensuring timely and compliant resolution.
- Stakeholder Leadership: Act as the privacy SME on regional and provincial committees, fostering a culture of privacy across business and technical teams.
- Technical Integration: Evaluate the privacy implications of API functionality, EMR/HIS infrastructure, and complex data flows to ensure secure information architecture.
- Contractual Oversight: Draft and review privacy requirements for data-sharing agreements, ensuring compliance for service providers and network operators.
Qualifications
- Privacy Expertise (5+ years): Demonstrated experience conducting PIAs on medium to high complexity projects within a health-regulated environment.
- Operational Experience (5+ years): Direct operational level privacy experience within the health sector, IT environment, or a combination of both.
- Legislative Mastery: Deep experience with PHIPA (2004), including specific requirements for:
Health Information Network Providers (HINP)
Electronic Service Providers (ESP)
Prescribed Statuses (e.g., Prescribed Entities/Persons)
- Technical Fluency: Familiarity with API management, EMR/HIS infrastructure, and digital record certification standards.
- Governance Skills: Proven track record in developing privacy requirements for data-sharing agreements and corporate policies.
- Education: Undergraduate or graduate degree in Health, Policy, IT, Security, Law, or a related discipline.
