We are seeking an experienced Senior Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA) Specialist to lead and conduct comprehensive privacy impact assessments for complex digital solutions, cloud platforms, and enterprise data integrations. Responsibilities
Lead end-to-end Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs) for new and modernized digital solutions, online platforms, and third-party software integrations.
Evaluate application architectures, backend API integrations, legacy system connections, and cloud environments to identify privacy and security vulnerabilities.
Review technical design artifacts, data flow diagrams, business process maps, and state transition models to assess personal information (PI) and personal health information (PHI) lifecycles.
Analyze project compliance against applicable privacy legislation, including FIPPA, PHIPA, and PIPEDA, as well as relevant jurisprudence and regulatory guidelines.
Lead discovery sessions and stakeholder workshops with technical, legal, security, and business teams to elicit technical details and operational workflows.
Develop detailed PIA reports, risk registries, and actionable mitigation plans, translating complex technical findings into clear executive briefings.
Evaluate digital identity trust frameworks, authentication mechanisms, and access control models for privacy risks.
Partner with policy development teams to review policies and regulations, making informed recommendations to ensure robust privacy safeguards.
Qualifications
Senior Privacy Impact Assessment Experience: Proven track record leading and conducting Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs) for online, digital, and cloud-based solutions (Strictly Required).
Privacy Legislation Expertise: In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience applying privacy legislation, including FIPPA, PHIPA, and PIPEDA (Strictly Required).
Third-Party & Health Data Assessments: Demonstrated experience conducting privacy assessments involving Personal Health Information (PHI) and third-party vendor integrations (Strictly Required).
Technical & Architecture Aptitude: Ability to interpret complex technical architecture documents, data flow diagrams, REST API integrations, and cloud security controls (Strictly Required).
Stakeholder Facilitation & Executive Writing: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with a proven ability to lead discovery sessions and author clear, decision-ready PIA documentation.
Nice-to-Have Assets:
Relevant professional certifications in privacy or IT security (e.g., CIPP/C, CIPM, CIPT, or CISSP).
Prior experience conducting PIAs within public sector or enterprise healthcare environments using standardized public sector PIA tools and approval processes.
