The Senior Site Superintendent is responsible for managing daily on-site activity of one large project, ensuring it is constructed in strict accordance with plans, specifications, and local codes. The Site Superintendent ensures adequate manpower is available for tasks, scheduling and directing the work of all subcontractors, consultants and vendors to meet or exceed our clients’ expectations of quality, safety and delivery. Responsibilities
· Plan, schedule, organize, direct and control construction projects from start to finish according to schedule, specifications and budget
· Review the project plans and specifications and comment on the building design, scheduling, potential construction problems
· Oversee day-to-day field activities inspecting work performed by employees, other contractors and sub-contractors displaying a high level of honesty and professionalism
· Contract, schedule and supervise the activities of all subcontractors and tradespeople
· Maintain good working relationships with the clients, consultants, subtrades and regulatory authorities
· Partner with the Project Manager to discuss errors, discrepancies or omissions contained within the Consultant’s design drawings
· Identify conflicts in construction progress and communicate them to project team for resolution
· Maintain strict build-out construction schedule and make changes as necessary to ensure deadlines are met
· Track supply inventory and materials to guard against loss and to ensure that vital materials are ordered and delivered to meet schedule
· Retains 247 ownership for site in its entirety ensuring its security and safety regardless of time of day/night and the day of the week
· Maintain and enforce good construction standards and quality control
· Control and monitor labour, material and equipment expenses
· Lead job site meetings
· Conduct employee orientations and safety meetings
· Prepare and expedite project deficiency lists
Qualifications
· 8+ years of experience within ground-up, multi-residential environments as well as large-scale industrial experience
· Experience in various areas of the construction process, project planning and scheduling, team building and mentoring
· Ability to read construction drawings, shop drawings and basic understand of mechanical and electrical drawings
· Advanced understanding of Canadian regulations relating to compliance on building permits and construction codes
· Proficient in Construction Health & Safety requirements and environmental hazards and controls
· Up to date safety training including: Working at Heights, WHMIS & First Aid
· Proficient computer skills in MS products
· Valid G Driver’s license
· Demonstrates the ability to plan, organize, manage, and direct a complex variety of activities to deliver the required business benefit – on time and within budget
· Capable to apply effective management techniques to maximize employee performance including performance reviews and disciplinary actions
· Strong negotiation skills with ability to influence team members, vendors, and other stakeholders
