Responsibilities
Translate functional requirements and technical system specifications into working, scalable, tested, and secure applications.
Design, build, test, and maintain server-side business logic, APIs, and data exchange services to deliver high performance and responsiveness.
Develop modern, responsive web application layers and RESTful services utilizing Node.js, JavaScript, React, Next.js, and CSS.
Ensure end-to-end compliance with PCI data security requirements, WCAG 2.2 Level AA accessibility guidelines, and AODA standards.
Implement accessible user interface elements and validate screen-reader compatibility utilizing JAWS, WAI-ARIA, and semantic HTML5.
Develop responsive web applications optimized for desktop and mobile device viewports.
Integrate server-side components with relational databases, payment gateways, and third-party lookup services.
Write detailed technical specifications, conduct comprehensive unit tests, and perform code reviews to maintain clean code standards.
Troubleshoot and debug complex application, integration, and runtime issues across pre-production and production environments.
Collaborate closely with architects, developers, business analysts, and quality assurance teams within Agile delivery frameworks.
Qualifications
Modern Web Frameworks & APIs: Extensive hands-on experience across modern web framework stacks including React, JavaScript, Next.js, Node.js, CSS, and RESTful APIs (Strictly Required).
Responsive & Mobile Development: Extensive experience engineering responsive web layouts with HTML5 and specialized coding for mobile devices (Strictly Required).
Accessibility & Compliance Seniority: 10+ years of proven experience developing applications in compliance with PCI and WCAG 2.2 standards, and successfully bringing applications to AODA compliance (Strictly Required).
Assistive Technologies: Demonstrated practical experience implementing and testing with JAWS, WAI-ARIA specifications, and semantic HTML5 (Strictly Required).
Software Development Rigor: Strong knowledge of object-oriented principles, design patterns, clean coding standards, and Agile methodologies (Strictly Required).
Nice-to-Have Assets:
Prior experience developing or supporting enterprise-scale public-facing service portals.
Experience integrating address validation services (such as Canada Post Address modules) and enterprise Payment Gateways.
Experience with Java development, relational databases (Oracle/SQL Server), and Azure DevOps pipelines.
Understanding of enterprise architectural governance and public sector development standards.
