Responsibilities
- Technical Coordination: Oversee the administration, monitoring, and implementation of integrated 911 solutions (CAD, Radio, GIS, Paging, and Telephony) within assigned Communication Centres.
- Subject Matter Expertise: Provide senior-level guidance on projects involving Radio, Satellite Systems, Digital Voice Recording, and Telecommunications engineering.
- Infrastructure Support: Coordinate the management of desktop and server environments, ensuring high availability for emergency dispatching equipment across the province.
- Emergency Support: Provide 24/7 onsite and remote troubleshooting for critical 911 dispatching equipment to ensure compliance with the Land Ambulance Act.
- Project Leadership: Capture business requirements, provide realistic work estimates, and lead the development of cost-effective I&IT solutions that meet company goals.
- System Maintenance: Use Radio Frequency (RF) test equipment (wattmeters, voltmeters, system analyzers) to perform diagnostics and maintenance on trunking systems and vehicle-mounted radio installations.
- Compliance & Policy: Ensure all technical services align with ITIL practices, privacy legislation (PHIPA), and provincial health service directives.
Qualifications
- Education: Degree or diploma in Electronics Technology or an equivalent mix of education and extensive practical experience in telecommunications engineering.
- Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of P25 standards, radio-trunking design, VHF/UHF technologies, and integrated voice/data switching systems.
- Networking & Servers: Experience with LAN topologies, server operating systems (Windows), domain architectures (DHCP, DNS, IP addressing), and CTI (Computer Telephony Integration) solutions like Avaya.
- Analytical Skills: Proven ability to perform cost-benefit analyses, evaluate new hardware/software functionality, and assess business requirements.
- Diagnostic Skills: Proficiency in using RF test equipment and understanding vehicle electrical systems relative to radio installations.
- Framework Knowledge: Strong understanding of ITIL practices (incident, change, and problem management) and project management methodologies.
- Soft Skills: Exceptional negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholders and prepare formal business cases.
