As a principal QA authority, you will bridge the gap between technical infrastructure, geographic information systems, and system release cycles. Operating on-site in Peterborough, you will lead the creation of test strategies and plans, design comprehensive test cases, perform manual and automated testing, and evaluate complex spatial software components. This role is tailored for a detail-oriented expert who can independently analyze system requirements, manage testing efforts across GUI and non-GUI environments, and ensure overall platform reliability.

Responsibilities
Provide expert advice on testing strategy, test plans, tool selection, and resource identification for enterprise system testing.
Plan and organize testing efforts across GUI and non-GUI environments, executing systems integration tests, specialized tests, and supporting user acceptance testing (UAT).
Author, maintain, and execute comprehensive test strategies, test plans, test scripts, and test scenarios across all project phases.
Collaborate with testing leads, IT leads, developers, and business analysts to analyze system designs, requirements, and ongoing support needs.
Execute functional, non-functional, unit, integration, performance, load, and stress testing against diverse software components.
Design and manage realistic test data, utilizing data query tools and CASE tools to validate system logic.
Develop and maintain automated test scripts and leverage version control systems across multiple platforms.
Validate Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) applications, spatial datasets, file geodatabases, and object-oriented solution components.
Maintain detailed testing documentation, track system defects to resolution, and report quality metrics to project management.
Qualifications
Core Technical & GIS Experience
GIS Platform Expertise: Hands-on testing experience with Esri-based GIS projects and applications, including ArcMap, ArcPro SDK, File Geodatabases, ArcObjects, ArcGIS Portal, and ArcGIS Online.
Infrastructure Modernization: Proven experience executing quality assurance for IT Infrastructure modernization and maintenance-focused projects.
Programming & SDK Knowledge: Familiarity and experience working with programming languages and software development kits, such as VBA, .NET, C++, C#, and Esri SDKs.
Testing Lifecycle Mastery: Extensive experience in planning, organizing, and executing end-to-end testing efforts across all phases of the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
Automated & Manual Testing Tools: Practical experience using automated testing tools, data query tools, version control platforms, and test management frameworks.
Preferred Assets & Skillsets
Public Sector Context: Experience working with public sector multi-disciplinary teams, enterprise IT standards, and formal project gating processes.
Accessibility Standards: Knowledge and understanding of Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) regulations and standards.
Communication & Collaboration: Proven track record of communicating complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, facilitating consensus, and negotiating project direction.
