This is a Hybrid role based in Toronto, requiring up to 3 days onsite per week.

Responsibilities
The Senior Technology Architect will be responsible for:
- Architecture & Strategy: Maintaining a scalable, secure, and highly available data lake architecture to support enterprise analytics, including leading the evaluation, design, and implementation strategy for the organization's next data lake/EDW platform.
- Cloud Optimization: Ensuring cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and storage configurations are optimized for performance, cost-efficiency, and compliance.
- Tool Management: Managing the selection, deployment, and lifecycle of data engineering tools and platforms, including ETL/ELT pipelines, orchestration tools, data catalogs, and monitoring tools.
- Automation & CI/CD: Driving automation and operational excellence through CI/CD practices for data pipelines.
- Data Integration & Governance: Overseeing the integration of internal and third-party data sources into the data lake. Partnering with data governance and security teams to enforce data privacy, access controls (especially for PHI data), metadata management, and regulatory compliance.
- Roadmap Implementation: Working with internal teams to deliver key roadmap items, including establishing PowerBI integration with the data lake (ADH), implementing the Metadata Tool in Production, and establishing PHI Data Aggregation Guidelines.
- Consultation: Supporting future strategies for analytics tools such as PowerBI, Microstrategy, and SAS.
Qualifications
Must-Have Experience:
- 7+ years hands-on experience with data lake platforms (e.g., Microsoft Azure Synapse and Fabric, Databricks, etc.) and ETL/ELT tools (e.g., Informatica, Azure Data Factory), with a strong understanding of data pipeline orchestration and cloud-native architectures.
- 7+ years experience understanding metadata management, lineage tracking, and data classification frameworks.
- Leadership experience in the development and implementation of technical architectures.
- Extensive experience in systems analysis and design in large systems environments.
- Strong written and oral communications skills, able to communicate development strategy clearly to technical and non-technical groups.
- Knowledge and experience designing processes around ITIL methodology.
Desired Skills (Assets):
- Experience preparing conceptual, logical, and/or physical processes and data models.
- Awareness of emerging technologies, trends, and directions in the data space.
- Experience translating business requirements into reporting needs.
- Public Sector Experience.
