Responsibilities
Phase 1: Discovery
Problem Definition: Build a deep understanding of the problem space, business goals, and stakeholder needs.
User Research: Facilitate interviews, create topic maps/scripts, and synthesize findings into actionable research reports.
Core Artifacts: Produce Business Model Canvases, User Personas, Stakeholder Maps, and Technical Service Blueprints.
Phase 2: Alpha
Experimentation: Conduct Google Ventures 5-Day Design Sprints to answer critical business questions.
Prototyping: Build interactive, "clickable" prototypes to test multiple hypotheses.
Validation: Conduct usability testing sessions and iterate on designs based on direct user feedback.
Phase 3: Beta
MVP Build: Transition from prototypes to a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) in a live-user environment.
Agile Leadership: Perform Scrum ceremonies (Stand-ups, Sprint Planning, Backlog Grooming).
Design Spearheading: Create and validate user stories for developers, typically working one iteration ahead.
Phase 4: Live
Continuous Improvement: Monitor usage analytics and user behavior to iterate on the live service.
Compliance: Conduct regular Accessibility (AODA) compliance testing to ensure inclusivity as improvements are released.
Qualifications
UX Design Expertise: 5+ years of experience in UX best practices with a deep focus on mobile-first and responsive design.
Agile & Scrum: 3+ years in a balanced team environment (PO, UX, Devs) ensuring alignment with user-centered design processes.
Technical Mastery: Proficiency in Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Cloud, InVision, and Zeplin. Coding skills in React, Angular, or Node.js are a significant plus.
Research Skills: Demonstrated ability to facilitate user interviews, synthesize observations, and produce high-quality findings reports.
Education: Degree/Diploma in Graphic Design or certifications in Usability, HCI, or Technical Writing.
Soft Skills: Exceptional mediation, negotiation, and presentation skills to manage stakeholder expectations and overcome resistance to change.
