Responsibilities
Phase 1: Discovery & Strategy
Problem Definition: Build a deep understanding of the problem space, business goals, and user needs.
Workshops: Facilitate kick-off meetings to produce Business Model Canvases, User Personas, Stakeholder Maps, and Strategy Maps.
User Research: Conduct interviews, develop scripts, and synthesize findings into comprehensive research reports.
Service Mapping: Create user storyboards and technical service blueprints to map the entire service delivery process.
Phase 2: Alpha (Experimentation)
Prototyping: Develop "clickable" prototypes of multiple possible solutions to test hypotheses.
Usability Testing: Validate prototypes with real users and iterate based on garnered insights.
Business Justification: Produce business proposals and feature roadmaps to justify funding for full-scale development.
Phase 3: Beta (Build & Implementation)
MVP Development: Use tested prototypes to build a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) in an Agile environment.
Agile Participation: Engage in daily stand-ups, sprint planning, backlog grooming, and retrospectives.
Iteration: Create and validate user stories, sketches, and flow diagrams one iteration ahead of the development team.
Compliance: Conduct regular accessibility compliance testing (AODA) and usability sessions.
Phase 4: Live (Continuous Improvement)
Ongoing Optimization: Monitor usage analytics and user behavior patterns to track KPIs.
Iterative Design: Continuously research, test, and improve the service for as long as it is active.
Qualifications
Experience: 3+ years of relevant experience participating in complex digital projects using user-centered design processes.
UX Expertise: Extensive experience in mobile-first and responsive design best practices.
Software Proficiency: Expertise in tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Cloud, InVision, Axure, or Zeplin.
Methodologies: Strong background in Agile (Scrum) and the ability to iterate designs efficiently.
Education: Degree or diploma in Graphic Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or Usability.
Technical Skills: Familiarity with HTML5, CSS3, and JS frameworks (React, Angular, NodeJS) is a significant plus.
Soft Skills: Excellent mediation, communication, and negotiation skills to build consensus across diverse stakeholder groups.
