As a senior UX designer, you will bridge the gap between user needs, business objectives, technical constraints, and design systems. Operating fully onsite in Toronto, you will lead end-to-end design initiatives—facilitating alignment workshops, managing user research, crafting intuitive user journeys and wireframes, and rapidly prototyping solutions. This position is tailored for a collaborative design authority who can apply user-centered principles, design with accessibility standards in mind, and translate complex requirements into elegant digital experiences.

Conceive, plan, and conduct user research, interviews, and surveys, synthesizing findings into sitemaps, user flows, journey maps, wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes.
Design the overall product functionality to ensure an intuitive user experience, rapidly iterating designs based on feedback and usability testing results.
Apply established enterprise design systems and component libraries to build cohesive digital products across diverse viewports and devices.
Identify complex design challenges, evaluate technical constraints, and devise elegant, scalable UX solutions.
Collaborate closely with developers, business analysts, QA specialists, and product leads to ensure seamless implementation of design specs.
Present design concepts, wireframes, and user research findings clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Maintain comprehensive design documentation, design assets, and component libraries.
Qualifications
Core Technical & UX Design Requirements
UX/UI Design Experience: Proven experience as a UX Designer, UI Designer, Interactive Designer, or similar role designing complex web and mobile applications.
User Research & Artifacts: Demonstrated experience conceiving and conducting end-to-end user research, user testing, and translating insights into user journeys, wireframes, sitemaps, and prototypes.
Design Workshops & Stakeholder Leadership: Ability to define and lead UX projects, design workshops, and alignment sessions with business stakeholders and users.
GUI & Prototyping Tools: Expertise creating GUI designs based on user interaction principles, utilizing modern tools such as Figma, Canvas, or equivalent software.
Design Systems: Hands-on experience building and designing with enterprise design systems (such as the Ontario Design System or comparable design frameworks).
Preferred Assets
Accessibility Standards: Knowledge of digital accessibility standards, accessibility testing, and designing to meet WCAG 2.1 AA requirements.
Public Sector Context: Prior experience within a public sector or broader public service environment is nice to have.
Digital Standards: Familiarity with modern digital service standards and navigating legacy system design challenges.
Soft Skills & Professional Attributes
Communication & Presentation: Skilled in conveying complex design concepts, user flows, and development processes clearly to diverse stakeholders.
