As a senior UX designer, you will bridge the gap between user needs, business goals, technical capabilities, and established design systems. Operating within a hybrid work model in Toronto, you will lead end-to-end design initiatives—planning and executing discovery research, facilitating stakeholder workshops, crafting responsive interaction flows, and translating evidence into developer-ready Figma specifications. This position is tailored for an analytical design leader who can advocate for user-centered principles, maintain strict accessibility compliance (AODA/WCAG), and deliver scalable service blueprints and prototypes.
Location: Toronto, ON
Assignment Type: Hybrid (3 days per week onsite)
Contract Duration: 6-month contract
Advantages
End-to-End Design Ownership: Lead full-lifecycle UX/UI design spanning discovery research, wireframing, high-fidelity prototyping, and developer handoff.
Advanced Figma & Design Systems: Utilize Figma components, variants, design tokens, and reusable design system libraries.
Accessibility-First Design: Engineer compliant digital experiences adhering strictly to AODA regulations and WCAG standards.
Strategic Collaboration: Facilitate research playbacks, design critiques, and alignment workshops with cross-functional leadership teams.
Responsibilities
Plan and execute discovery research, stakeholder interviews, usability testing, and evidence synthesis to translate findings into prioritized design recommendations.
Develop user journeys, task flows, service blueprints, information architecture, wireframes, interactive prototypes, and high-fidelity responsive designs for web and mobile.
Design complex interaction states, including navigation, search, multi-step forms, input validation, error handling, empty states, and loading indicators.
Ensure all digital experiences adhere to digital accessibility requirements, AODA regulations, and specified WCAG conformance levels.
Contribute to, extend, and apply established design systems, creating reusable components, variants, design tokens, and interaction guidance.
Prepare developer-ready design specifications, annotated Figma prototypes, responsive guidance, component references, and acceptance criteria.
Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, including researchers, content specialists, accessibility experts, developers, and project leads.
Facilitate in-person and remote workshops, design critiques, playback sessions, and decision-making activities to build cross-functional consensus.
Participate in design-quality and implementation reviews to resolve accessibility and UI bugs during development.
Maintain design files, research records, decision logs, accessibility issue tracking, and prioritized UX backlogs.
Provide mentorship, knowledge transfer, and comprehensive documentation to enable team staff to maintain and extend design assets.
