As a Senior UX Designer, you will bridge the gap between business goals, complex system functionalities, and end-user needs. Operating fully onsite in Toronto, you will lead end-to-end user research, facilitate design alignment workshops with key stakeholders, establish user flows, and build interactive wireframes, mockups, and high-fidelity prototypes. Facilitate design workshops, discovery sessions, and alignment meetings with business users, product managers, and key stakeholders.
Translate research insights and business goals into sitemaps, user flows, customer journey maps, wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes.
Design intuitive Graphical User Interfaces (GUIs) optimized for interaction, usability, visual appeal, and device responsiveness.
Rapidly iterate upon design prototypes using tools like Figma based on continuous usability testing, user feedback, and technical constraints.
Utilize and contribute to established design systems, such as the Ontario Design System, ensuring strict adherence to Digital Service Standards.
Collaborate closely with front-end developers, QA specialists, and software architects to ensure design feasibility and smooth implementation.
Identify complex interaction problems, navigate legacy system constraints, and engineer elegant, user-centered design solutions.
Ensure all digital interfaces and design assets are created with accessibility at their core, meeting WCAG 2.1 AA requirements.
Prepare clear technical design documentation, design specs, user stories, and presentation materials for multidisciplinary teams.
Qualifications
Core Requirements & UX Expertise
UX/UI Design Tenure: Demonstrated experience as a UX Designer, UI Designer, Interactive Designer, or similar role designing web and mobile applications.
Research & Synthesis: Proven experience managing end-to-end user research—from recruiting participants to conducting interviews and synthesizing actionable design insights.
Workshop Facilitation: Strong experience defining and leading UX projects, design workshops, and alignment sessions with business users and stakeholders.
Prototyping & Tooling: High proficiency with modern design and prototyping tools, specifically Figma, Canvas, and comparable software.
Design Systems & Standards: Practical experience working with the Ontario Design System and a solid working knowledge of Digital Service Standards.
Technical Understanding: Thorough understanding of the capabilities, limitations, and appropriate uses of web development technologies.
Preferred Assets & Accessibility Standards
Accessibility Mastery: Proficient in designing inclusive interfaces compliant with WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility guidelines and accessibility testing methods.
Legacy Transformation: Experience navigating complex design challenges, legacy system integrations, and multi-layered stakeholder approval environments.
