Responsibilities
User-Centered Interface Design: Create intuitive, responsive, and visually compelling graphical user interfaces (GUIs) optimized across web and mobile platforms.
UX Strategy & Workshop Facilitation: Define and lead end-to-end UX projects, facilitating co-design workshops, visioning sessions, and alignment meetings with business users and key stakeholders.
End-to-End User Research: Conceive, plan, and conduct user research activities including stakeholder interviews, questionnaires, and usability testing; synthesize findings into actionable research reports.
Information Architecture & Prototyping: Translate user insights and business requirements into comprehensive sitemaps, user flows, customer journey maps, wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes.
Usability Testing & Rapid Iteration: Test interactive prototypes with target users, gather continuous feedback, and rapidly iterate designs to refine functionality and optimize user experience.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with software developers, QA analysts, and product owners to ensure technical feasibility, clear specification handover, and consistent design implementation.
Accessibility & Design System Compliance: Ensure digital interfaces adhere to modern web accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 Level AA) and align with applicable design systems and digital service standards.
Design Documentation & Governance: Produce clear technical design documentation, user stories, design rationale briefs, and UI specifications for development teams.
Qualifications
UX/UI Design Experience: Proven experience as a UX Designer, Interactive Designer, or UI Designer creating GUI designs for web and mobile applications (Strictly Required).
UX Project & Workshop Leadership: Demonstrated ability to define, lead, and manage UX projects, including facilitating design workshops and alignment sessions with stakeholders (Strictly Required).
Design & Prototyping Software: Proficient hands-on experience using modern design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Canva, or similar platforms (Strictly Required).
End-to-End User Research: Hands-on experience planning, conducting, and synthesizing user research, surveys, and usability testing into wireframes, journey maps, and prototypes (Strictly Required).
Cross-Functional Delivery: Proven track record collaborating closely with developers, QA specialists, and business leads to achieve common project goals (Strictly Required).
Nice-to-Have Assets:
Familiarity with Ontario Service Design standards, digital service standards, or prior public sector environment experience.
Experience designing accessible interfaces compliant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA requirements.
Experience navigating complex design challenges within legacy systems or multi-stakeholder approval frameworks.
