What you’ll do
As a Skid Steer Operator, you’ll help coordinate the receiving of materials for bale processing and safely operate a Skid Steer to load loose product onto the conveyor system.
Your day-to-day:
- Complete and submit equipment inspection forms and immediately report any defects that may jeopardize the safe operation of equipment.
- Load product from various storage areas in a safe and efficient manner.
- Process materials according to the Plant Supervisor’s instructions.
- Grade and sort bulk loads of loose materials.
- Maintain radio contact with the Baler Operator to coordinate baling activities.
- Load materials onto the conveyor system.
- Ensure containers and equipment are clean, free of debris, and in safe operating condition.
- Maintain clear and safe access to dumping areas for incoming vehicles.
- Escort incoming vehicles to their designated dumping area when entering the plant.
- Stockpile incoming materials to allow adequate space for unloading new loads.
- Perform traffic control duties for incoming vehicles and in-plant machine operators.
- Maintain strong housekeeping standards throughout the work area.
- Follow all plant safety rules, policies, and procedures.
- Wear all required personal protective equipment, including steel-toe safety footwear, high-visibility clothing, gloves, and other required PPE.
- Follow lockout/tagout procedures when performing maintenance or cleaning activities.
- Use air hoses and other equipment safely and responsibly.
- Perform other duties as assigned. Responsibilities may change based on operational requirements.
Your strengths as a Skid Steer Operator
You are a natural fit for this role if you have:
- A minimum of three (3) months of related work experience.
- Valid Skid Steer training and certification.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Basic mechanical aptitude.
- Strong communication skills, including reading, writing, and verbal communication.
- The ability to work independently and stay self-motivated.
- Strong housekeeping and organizational skills.
- Reliable attendance and commitment to workplace safety.
- The ability to work in a fast-paced environment with varying noise levels and temperatures.
- A strong commitment to health and safety in all aspects of work.
