Responsibilities
- Complete all aspects of compilation, review, and audit engagements from the initial planning stages through to completion, working both individually and as part of a team.
- Conduct research to thoroughly understand a client's industry and business operations.
- Arrange and conduct meetings with clients to establish timelines, expectations, and address any issues or concerns for each engagement.
- Review engagement approaches, procedures, and staffing requirements with your manager to ensure optimal workflow.
- Prepare comprehensive working paper files for Compilation, Review, and Audit Engagements.
- Monitor and manage engagements efficiently to meet budgetary and reporting deadlines.
- Prepare accurate financial statements and the corresponding T2 corporate income tax returns.
- Prepare personal income tax returns (T1) and assist with strategic tax planning for clients.
- Prepare various tax compliance slips and forms, including GST/HST returns.
- Provide essential support to clients by finding solutions to accounting-related problems and answering questions about year-end and bookkeeping processes.
- Perform bookkeeping tasks, including reconciling purchasing, accounting, and inventory control systems initiated by clients.
- Assist clients with payroll processing, GST/PST compliance, and the creation of business accounting systems.
- Maintain accurate financial records by reconciling, compiling, and tracking financial information using tools such as MS Office.
- Prepare timely responses to client correspondence and inquiries.
Qualifications
- An accounting designation (CPA), diploma, or equivalent professional experience is required.
- High proficiency in the MS Office Suite (especially Excel) and experience with QuickBooks or other accounting software.
- Direct experience with personal and corporate income tax preparation would be a significant asset.
- Experience working in a professional services or public accounting environment is highly desirable.
- Familiarity and experience with software such as Caseware and iFirm is a strong asset.
- A commitment to providing superior client service and delivering high-quality work.
