Responsibilities
Fabricate and weld structural steel components (beams, columns, trusses, etc.) according to engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
Perform high-quality welding using Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW) and Metal-Cored Arc Welding (MCAW) processes.
Complete welds in all positions (flat, horizontal, vertical, overhead) to meet Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) standards.
Read and accurately interpret complex blueprints, welding procedure specifications (WPS), and welding symbols.
Safely operate and maintain fabrication tools, including grinding equipment, cutting torches, and overhead cranes.
Collaborate effectively with fitters, quality control inspectors, and other tradespeople to maintain project flow.
Maintain a positive, team-oriented attitude and contribute to a safe and organized workspace.
Conduct visual inspections of completed welds and perform necessary repairs to ensure quality and compliance.
Qualifications
Journeyman Welder Certification (Red Seal or equivalent experience) is required.
CWB Certification is mandatory, specifically for FCAW/MCAW in all positions
Minimum 5+ years of verifiable experience in structural steel fabrication or heavy industrial welding.
Strong ability to read and interpret detailed structural blueprints and complex welding symbols.
Proven commitment to a team-first attitude and a high level of professionalism (no "chip on the shoulder" please).
Must possess reliable transportation as the work locations (Nisku, Sturgeon County) are generally not accessible by public transit.
