Responsibilities
System Administration & Infrastructure Support
Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain:
Operating systems (Windows, Linux/Unix)
Servers, storage systems, and backup solutions
Network infrastructure including routers, switches, and security appliances
Support data centre operations and virtualized environments
Platform & Application Management
Administer and maintain:
Microsoft Active Directory and Group Policy Objects (GPOs)
Microsoft SCCM/SCOM environments
Microsoft Exchange servers
Enterprise applications including GIS platforms and database systems
Support antivirus, patching, and system security processes
Performance & Reliability
Monitor system performance and recommend improvements
Perform backup, replication, and disaster recovery procedures
Conduct system testing and produce validation reports
Troubleshooting & Support
Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues across infrastructure and applications
Reproduce and analyze end-user issues to identify root causes
Participate in defect triage and incident response activities
Architecture & Documentation
Design and implement virtual server, desktop, and cloud architectures
Develop technical documentation including:
Build documents
Architecture diagrams
Testing plans and reports
Collaboration & Communication
Work with project managers, developers, analysts, and stakeholders
Participate in regular status meetings and provide updates
Deliver presentations and technical demonstrations as required
Qualifications
Secret Level II PSPC - Canadian Federal Government Clearance
Mandatory Requirements
Degree or diploma in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field
Minimum 5 years of experience as a System Administrator
Minimum 5 years of experience installing, configuring, and administering:
Virtualization environments
Operating systems
Database servers
Exchange mail systems
Enterprise applications (e.g., GIS platforms)
Minimum 5 years of experience with Active Directory and GPOs
Experience implementing:
Virtual server solutions
Enterprise IT solutions in large environments
Technical Skills & Experience
Strong expertise in:
Windows Server, Active Directory, GPOs
Virtualization technologies
Microsoft SCCM/SCOM
SQL Server and database environments
Exchange Server administration
Experience with:
Backup and disaster recovery solutions
Network infrastructure and security appliances
GIS platforms (e.g., ArcGIS)
