Responsibilities
- 24/7 Infrastructure Monitoring: Perform continuous monitoring of mainframe, midrange servers, storage, and network peripherals to ensure availability as per defined SLAs.
- Mainframe & System Support: Support large z/OS mainframe systems, implementing change requests and taking prompt action to triage outages or escalate to Tier 2/3 and vendors.
- Incident & Change Management: Respond to high-priority incidents, initiate established recovery procedures, and participate in service restoration meetings.
- Datacenter Physical Support: Provide onsite "Smart Hands" services, including physical intervention to devices in Justice and PKI cages, and escorting vendor support for hardware repairs.
- Patching & Maintenance: Coordinate and provide operational updates, upgrades, and security patches for various platforms.
- Audit & Recovery: Participate in yearly SysTrust audits and semi-annual Disaster Recovery (DR) exercises to ensure organizational resilience.
- Reporting & Analytics: Use Power BI and the Office 365 suite to create operational updates, procedural documentation, and performance reports.
Qualifications
- z/OS Mainframe Expertise: 5–8+ years of demonstrated experience supporting and monitoring large-scale z/OS mainframe systems.
- Server & Network Management: Broad knowledge of UNIX and Wintel (Windows) server hardware components and end-to-end system management.
- Service Management Tools: Proficiency with enterprise tools such as eSMT, Remedy, and CIT.
- ITIL Framework: Strong understanding of ITIL principles, specifically Incident and Change Management processes.
- Monitoring Tools: Demonstrated experience with system and application monitoring performance tools in a high-pressure environment.
- Modern Productivity & Data Tools: Proficient in Microsoft 365 for collaboration and Power BI for data visualization and analytics.
- Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills for technical documentation and executive reporting.
