The Systems Engineering Technologist will ensure project work is executed, monitored and controlled in terms of adherence to budget and schedule, risk management, and quality of deliveries. As required, the candidate will participate in integration or configuration, troubleshooting, verification and validation of subsystems and engineering close-out activities.
The environments the candidate will generally be at the customer premises (Vancouver Shipyards) that is an active Shipyard, and onboard Ships or other vessels, both Military and Civilian along with shipyard facilities.
Tasks are assigned by the Technologist Group Lead, or as delegated to the project authority.

Schedule: 40hrs/week, with flexibility on working days dependent on project schedule. Overtime may be necessary depending on the demand and project schedule

· Min 5 years experience in a systems engineering environment, ideally in the Naval or Shipbuilding industry

Responsibilities
Essential Functions / Key Areas of Responsibility
The expectations from Systems Engineering Technologist are as follows:
Ensure all work is carried-out in accordance with company practices and procedures.
Ensure all work is completed according to Project’s integrated master schedule
Maintain control of integration tools, test equipment and work area.
Assist in preparation of drawings (electrical and mechanical) as required
Read engineering documents, schematics, and technical orders to determine faults and methods of troubleshooting.
Implement and execute system test cases. Analyze and evaluate test results.
Troubleshoot systems that do not meet requirements.
Identify installation risks and prepare mitigation strategies.
Inspect parts for defects.
Interact with customer technical and non-technical personnel (military and/or civilian).
Work in a team environment and independently.

To provide products and customer solutions in consistency with all stakeholders’ needs and entity policies, as well as continuously enhance engineering competitiveness.

Education:
· College diploma in a Technical Program or equivalent with relevant experience.
Language

Security Requirement
· Canadian Citizen or Permanent Residence (greater than 5 Years) capable of obtaining Enhanced Reliability Status and handling Controlled Goods
Must Haves (requirements)
· English essential
· Min 5 years experience in a systems engineering environment, ideally in the Naval or Shipbuilding industry
· Good level oral and written communication skills required for report writing
· Can read and understand electrical, mechanical drawings and technical document
· Hands on experience on troubleshooting, integration and configuration and testing, cabling, network & electronics systems
· Experience in the use of common electrical test equipment, including DMM, Oscilloscope, etc.
· Experience in the use of common hand and electrical tools
Nice to haves (asset)
· Experience in electronics systems, RF, networking systems including testing with specialized test equipment is an asset,
· It would be an asset to have knowledge of Canadian requirements for shock and vibration, EMC/EMI, drawing standards and industry design standards.;
· Experience with varied operating systems and technical software such as Labview
