Tank Cleaning Technician (Turnaround Project)
- Location: Bonnyville, AB (Camp Accommodations Provided)
- Project Duration: August 26th – September 16th (21 days straight)
- Shift: 12-hour days/nights (7:30 AM – 7:30 PM OR 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)

Overview
We are currently seeking 18 experienced Tank Cleaning Technicians to join our team for a high-priority, 21-day turnaround project in Bonnyville. This is a fast-paced environment requiring physical stamina, strict adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to work effectively in confined spaces. You will be working a 12-hour day or night shift, with hotel accommodations and bus transportation provided to the site. Candidates must be willing to travel to/from the hotel at the start and end of the project (travel time will be compensated).
Advantages
Project Stability: A guaranteed 21-day straight commitment.
Accommodations & Meals: Full accommodations provided (Hotel/Camp living) plus a $60/day Living Out Allowance (LOA).
Travel Allowances: $50/day travel allowance. Travel time to and from the hotel at the start and end of the project will also be compensated.
Transportation: Daily bus service provided between the accommodations and the site (approximately a 30-minute ride).
Provided PPE: Gloves, safety glasses, and FR coveralls are provided for the duration of the project.
Responsibilities
Execute tank cleaning procedures within confined spaces according to specific project directives.
Work securely and efficiently while utilizing supplied breathing air systems in highly restricted work areas.
Adhere comprehensively to all established safety protocols and the direct guidance of onsite leadership.
Take responsibility for the upkeep, inventory, and safe return of all company-provided protective gear (such as gas monitors, FR coveralls, and respiratory equipment) once the job concludes.
Promptly notify management regarding any defective machinery, tool failures, or potential safety hazards observed on site.
Qualifications
Qualifications & Experience
- Experience: 1–3+ years as an industrial cleaning labourer or working in industrial turnaround plant settings.
- Specialized Skills: Proven experience working within confined spaces for extended durations while using breathing air.
- Safety Knowledge: Strong understanding of common safety practices (hazard identification and reporting, PPE selection and use, incident reporting, LOTO, permit-to-work systems).
- Language: Must be fluent in English with the ability to understand and execute complex verbal instructions.
- Soft Skills: Reliable attendance, ability to follow detailed instructions, effective communication, team collaboration, problem-solving abilities, and strong attention to detail.
- Assets (Not strictly required but preferred): Experience connecting hoses and temporary piping, rigging and hoisting, working at heights, working with hazardous atmospheres, or operating combo vac trucks, hydrovacs,/chemical cleaning units. First Aid certification is also considered an asset.
Certifications & Safety Requirements
- Required Tickets: Confined Space Entry, H2S Alive, Fall Protection, CSTS 2020 (or CSO), and WHMIS.
- Mask Fit Testing: Must have valid mask fit tests for 3M Scott AV-3000 for SABA, 3M 6000 Series ½ Mask, and 3M 6000 Series Full Face.
- Pre-Access Testing: Must be comfortable passing a pre-access Drug and Alcohol screening.
- Orientation: Online site orientation must be completed 72 hours before mobilization.
- Required Personal Gear: Workers must bring their own CSA-approved chemical-resistant rubber boots and hard hat. (Note: The client does not provide prescription safety glasses or custom-fitted earplugs).
Physical Demands
- Given the physical demands of the job, candidates must be physically fit to perform the work. This includes:
- Capability to work under air in confined spaces for extended periods.
- Climbing ladders and stairs.
- Extended periods of standing and walking.
- Kneeling, crawling, and repetitive motions.
