The Terminal Manager will oversee the operations of a designated terminal within our network in Alberta, Northwest Territories, and Yukon. This role is a key part of the Operations Department and reports to either the Director of Operations or a Regional Manager. The Terminal Manager is responsible for ensuring efficient freight handling, optimizing resource use, maintaining safety standards, and fostering a positive work environment for all terminal staff.

Responsibilities
Operational Management:
Oversee all aspects of terminal operations, including receiving, sorting, loading, and unloading freight.
Promote and adhere to the company’s core values with both internal and external customers.
Plan and execute efficient freight movement to ensure timely pickups and deliveries.
Collaborate with other departments like dispatch, customer service, and maintenance to optimize overall operational efficiency.
Resource Management:
Allocate resources such as labor, equipment, and facilities for optimal terminal performance.
Schedule shifts, breaks, and tasks for terminal staff to meet operational demands.
Monitor and manage driver schedules to maximize utilization and ensure compliance with regulations.
Safety and Compliance
Enforce safety protocols, company policies, and Standard Operating Procedures to ensure a safe work environment for all employees.
Conduct regular safety training, meetings, audits, and drills to enhance employee awareness and reduce accidents.
Ensure compliance with federal transportation, labor, and safety regulations.
Performance Monitoring:
Track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) like on-time performance, shipment accuracy, and operational costs.
Identify areas for improvement and implement strategies to enhance performance and efficiency.
Staff Development:
Recruit, hire, train, and evaluate terminal staff, including drivers, loaders, and administrative personnel.
Provide coaching, mentorship, and support to build a skilled and motivated team.
Address performance issues promptly and implement corrective actions as needed, following the company's Attendance Management Program and Employee Performance Action Plans.
Customer Relations:
Work with the customer service department to ensure customer needs are met and address concerns promptly.
Maintain open communication to enhance customer satisfaction and loyalty.
Budget Management:
Manage the terminal budget, including labor costs, equipment maintenance, and facility expenses.
Identify opportunities for cost savings while maintaining operational excellence.
Continuous Improvement:
Initiate and lead process improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and customer service.
Stay informed on industry trends and best practices to implement innovative solutions.
Qualifications
Qualifications
A bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
Several years of experience in transportation, logistics, or terminal operations with progressively increasing responsibilities.
Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a diverse team.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving abilities.
In-depth knowledge of transportation regulations and safety standards.
Demonstrated ability to manage budgets and drive operational efficiency
