Responsibilities
How You’ll Succeed:
• Native-Level French Proficiency: You bring extensive knowledge of the French language, supported by a degree in translation or equivalent professional experience. You have strong terminology research skills, an acute awareness of French-Canadian linguistic nuances, and a good working knowledge of tools such as Trados Studio, alongside resources like Termium, Le GDT, Antidote, and various terminology databases. Familiarity with OQLF standards is essential.
• Maintain French Language Alignment: You will translate, proofread, and edit translations, ensuring accuracy and adherence to established editorial standards and the guidelines of the Office Québécois de la langue Française. You take pride in ensuring that content from vendors, internal teams, and external partners is accurate and meets the organization's quality standards and best practices.
• Effectively Manage Translation Workflow: You are highly detail-oriented and process-driven. You will manage translation requests in a timely and cost-effective manner, working cooperatively with internal partners and external vendors.
• Take Initiative: You are comfortable juggling multiple priorities under tight deadlines. You proactively address and resolve the complexities and ambiguities that can arise during projects. You will use your excellent communication, consultation, and interpersonal skills to champion the French translation discipline and its nuances within the organization.
• Recommend Process Improvements: You will regularly review the French translation and editing processes, with a focus on continuous improvement. You will be expected to recommend and implement ways to make the project process as efficient as possible, including the optimal use of CAT tools and content libraries.
Qualifications
Must-Haves:
• Strong English and native-level French language proficiency, with extensive knowledge of the French language and an awareness of French-Canadian specificities.
• A minimum of 5 years of professional work experience in translation and editing, ideally within marketing, banking, software development, or user experience design environments. This experience should include working with content that adheres to brand guidelines, meets WCAG accessibility standards, and complies with OQLF standards. Experience helping to maintain a content style guide is also required.
• Familiarity with the software development lifecycle in an agile delivery environment.
