We are seeking a creative and results-driven UI/UX Designer to join our client's team to help shape the future of product development through our client's leading design and make platform. Their clients range from those creating everyday consumer products to those working on large-scale machinery, electric vehicles, and digital factories.
This role offers a unique opportunity to support experience design for digital factory solutions, developing experiences to analyze live production data from manufacturing environments. You'll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to validate concepts and refine design iterations, and participate in broader teams to craft the overall experience for our digital factory platform.
This is a 3-month contract which requires the talent to be located in the GTA for occasional onsite meetings at our client's office in downtown Toronto.

Responsibilities
• Partner with product managers, engineers, and designers to shape and develop mobile experiences within our platform.
• Develop UI and interaction design prototypes to enhance exploration and internal alignment on design direction, showing adaptability across desktop, mobile, and browser-based applications.
• Assist in developing and refining production tracking software used in a wide variety of manufacturing environments.
• Prototype and test, including conducting user testing for design refinement and iteration, and collaborating with the user research team to ensure timely, actionable feedback.
• Participate in innovation sprints and activities to connect workflows from product design to manufacturing to operating a complex manufacturing facility.
• Operate in a dynamic, iterative setting, aligning customer needs, business demands, and the latest technology developments, including AI, with a focus on user-centered design principles.
• Contribute to a developing design system; create new UI and interaction patterns that will be used across our platform.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s or Master's degree in UX Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Design, or a related field.
• Minimum 3-5 years professional experience in UX design within software, AI, or manufacturing environments.
• Proficiency in Figma and Adobe Suite, and experience using Jira and Confluence.
• Strong analytical thinking and skilled in user-centered design.
• Effective communication and presentation skills in English.
• Ability to work collaboratively within cross-functional teams across time zones.
• Experience with CAD/CAM technologies (e.g., AutoCAD, Mastercam, SOLIDWORKS, Blender) or designed solutions for complex, multi-faceted experiences like data visualization, 3D modeling, and/or simulation.
• Solid communication and storytelling with an ability to explain technical topics to a non-technical audience.
• Experience conducting user research, including interviews and usability testing, and effectively applying learnings and insights to improve designs.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelor's or equivalent work experience in user interface (UI) and interaction design for software and/or SaaS solutions in related fields like architecture, industrial design, or mechanical engineering.
• Familiarity with manufacturing and production processes, as well as scheduling and task management software.
• Demonstrated experience applying UX in real-world projects and the impact of your role in team efforts.
• Passion for emerging technology and how physical products are created, with a desire to shape the future of digital product design and manufacturing tools.
• Curious and proactive—able to ask great questions to understand users, business needs, and technical constraints.
• Systematic thinker, connecting workflows across multiple tools and platforms.
