This is a fantastic opportunity for a researcher with a strong foundation in human-centered design to work on high-profile, customer-facing digital touch points across websites and mobile apps. This is a 12 month contract opportunity and will require you to be onsite in downtown Toronto a minimum of 3 days/ week.
As a design researcher, you will be responsible for conducting user research and evaluation to drive an exceptional user experience across the client's digital platforms for banking, investing, and insurance. You will be a key contributor within a collaborative, well-balanced team, translating research findings into easily understandable, actionable insights that directly inform strategy and design.

Responsibilities
Research Design and Planning: Define research questions, create comprehensive research approaches, and develop participant recruitment plans, selecting the most appropriate data collection and analysis methods.
Research Execution: Conduct a diverse range of design research methods, including but not limited to observation/ethnography, diary studies, user interviews, usability testing, and card sorting.
Collaboration: Work closely with experience strategists, designers, and business stakeholders to understand and support their specific research needs.
Data Analysis & Reporting: Utilize qualitative and quantitative approaches to make sense of collected data, translating findings into actionable insights in diverse formats such as experience maps, usability test reports, and personas.
Preparation & Recruitment: Manage research logistics, including the creation of participant screeners and coordinating recruitment either through internal employee panels or external vendors.
Qualifications
3+ years of relevant experience as a researcher, with a strong foundation in Human-Centered Design (HCD) or a related field.
Deep knowledge of and hands-on experience with User-Centered Design and Human Factors research methods.
Strong communications skills (written, oral, and graphical) to effectively translate complex data into clear, compelling insights.
Strong project management skills with the ability to efficiently balance tasks spanning multiple research studies.
An Undergraduate degree is required in Psychology, Anthropology, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, Human Factors, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field.
Nice-to-Haves
Prior experience in the Financial Services (FI) industry.
A graduate degree is preferred.
