Responsibilities
Primary Responsibilities:
Precisely cut, match, and lay out different wood veneer species, demonstrating a deep understanding of their unique grain patterns and characteristics.
Interpret detailed shop drawings to execute complex designs using advanced matching techniques like book match and slip match.
Set up, operate, and perform routine maintenance on specialized equipment, including veneer slicing machines and guillotine cutters.
Apply strong mathematical and problem-solving skills to maximize veneer yield and minimize material waste.
Conduct thorough quality control checks on all materials and finished products to ensure they meet high standards.
Collaborate effectively with supervisors, project managers, and other team members to bring design visions to life.
Qualifications
Skills & Qualifications:
An extensive understanding of veneer species, cuts, grades, backing materials, and layout techniques.
Knowledge of different veneer cutting methods and the ability to select the appropriate cut for a specific design.
The ability to assess and grade veneer, identify defects, and determine the best use of each slice to maximize yield.
A proven ability to create seamless grain flow and match patterns for superior visual appeal.
Mastery of cutting tools and techniques to achieve clean and accurate results.
Proficiency in operating woodworking machinery and using hand tools.
Excellent measurement, calculation, and spatial reasoning skills.
A meticulous attention to detail in all aspects of work.
A proactive approach to identifying and resolving challenges related to veneer quality or cutting.
A strong commitment to safety, including adhering to all safety protocols, wearing appropriate PPE, and maintaining a clean and organized work area.
Summary
Shift Information:
The standard hours for this position are Monday to Friday, from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, which includes a half-hour lunch break.
Overtime work may be requested by the company.
