Responsibilities
Prepare wood surfaces for finishing by sanding, filling, and cleaning to ensure a smooth and defect-free base.
Inspect surfaces for imperfections and make necessary repairs.
Operate spray guns and rollers to apply stains, sealers, paints, lacquers, and other finishes to wood products, achieving even coverage and consistent color.
Adjust equipment settings and techniques based on the type of finish and the desired effect.
Maintain a clean and organized spray booth or finishing area.
Set up, operate, and monitor automated finishing machines, such as UV or curtain coaters (only include if relevant to the client's operations).
Troubleshoot and resolve minor machine issues.
Inspect finished products for quality, ensuring they meet client specifications and standards for color, sheen, and overall appearance.
Identify and correct any defects in the finish.
Handle and stage wood products for finishing, ensuring proper drying and curing conditions.
Adhere to all safety regulations regarding the handling and application of finishing materials, including proper ventilation and personal protective equipment (PPE) use.
Maintain a clean and organized work area to minimize hazards.
Qualifications
Proven experience as a Finisher in a woodworking environment. Specify desired years of experience (e.g., 2+ years).
Demonstrated proficiency in using spray guns, rollers, and other finishing tools.
Strong understanding of various wood finishes, their application techniques, and drying/curing processes.
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
