The Assistant Manager is a key member of the department who is responsible for assisting the Sr. Manager, Warehouse in the business unit's success in contributing to the achievement of company goals, objectives. Responsibilities
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Main duties and responsibilities, not all tasks) :
• Assist in the planning and coordinating of different aspects of the revenue/sales activity and operating area of Warehouse/Distribution
• Ensure that daily operations run smoothly and adhere to all company policies and procedures
• Lead and motivate Vancouver Team and individual to achieves departmental goals
• Accountable for warehouse and team members Health, Safety and Security adherence to company and local regulations, policies and procedure
• Accountable to onboard new team members and evaluate all team members training meet and maintain their proficient capability in the assigned areas and workflow process
• Maintain receiving, shipping, warehousing, and distribution operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing program, operational, and personnel policies and procedures
• Ensure that vendors and suppliers are properly compensated and continue to meet the needs of the company
• Provide supervision to the reception, handling, distribution, and storage of all freight, product, and supplies that come in and out of the warehouse
• Instruct Warehouse/Distribution staff to ensure all production orders are shipped to customers in a timely manner in adherence to delivery schedules
• Communicate directly with clients regarding needs and concerns, and maintain open lines of communication between management, staff, and customers in a respectful and professional manner
• Assist in maintaining strict control over inventory levels and ensure that all transactions and record keeping activities are properly documented and compliant with company SOPS
• Assist in the development and enforcement of corporate policies regarding security, safety, housekeeping, and pest control to maintain a safe working environment
• Practice safe warehouse procedures, identify potential hazards, report work-related injuries or accidents, and recommend improvements where necessary
• Ensure all warehouse team members involved in the handling of pharmaceutical, temperature monitored, and temperature controlled products are appropriately trained and following relevant SOPs and COPS
• Ensure all record keeping and reporting activities related to pharmaceutical, temperature monitored, and temperature controlled products are up to date and in compliance with written SOPs, including recovery of reports and data from vendor systems and portals
• Responsible for hiring and/or assisting in the hiring of suitable team members
• Oversee warehouse employees, including delegating, training, coaching, planning, and assisting in the evaluation process
• Ensure that administrative services such as employees' paperwork and payroll matters are completed and addressed within required deadlines
• Assist the manager in the compilation, accuracy, and presentation of reports
• Maintain the warehouse in a neat, orderly, and efficient manner
• Perform various other tasks as may be required
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS/COMPETENCIES (Experience, knowledge, competencies)
• Minimum 2-3 years of direct work experience in a warehouse or supply chain position
• Direct working knowledge of operations, warehouse management, and transportation management
• Direct knowledge of WHMIS and other safety systems
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
• Strong knowledge of warehouse documentation
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong quantitative and critical thinking skills
• Team leadership and teambuilding abilities
• Ability to remain calm in stressful situations, work under pressure and meet deadlines
• Solid project management skills are essential
• Ability to physically handle items of variable weight
• Ability to safely operate a fork-lift or other cargo moving machinery
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS (list all required for the job)
• Post-Secondary Education
• Forklift Certificate
• WHMIS Training
• TDG Certificate is an asset
• GDP Training
