2021 was another year for the books. As the global pandemic continued, labour and skills challenges have become exacerbated. Calls for action on social justice and environmental change continue to mount. These realities have called on Canadian companies to do more and do better when it comes not only to supporting their bottom lines, but also in supporting their communities.

Randstad Canada aims to be a trusted resource for diverse employers and job seekers. Being a positive force for positive impact in our communities is part of that vision. In 2021 we continued our commitment to being a more diverse and inclusive organization, continuing to nurture the wonderful spirit of employee engagement and giving that is part of our DNA, and growing partnerships with those doing amazing work for social change in our communities.

our areas of focus

We have aligned our corporate social responsibility strategy with the workplace challenges that Canadians encounter every day. We are confident we can deliver the most significant impact and boost the employability of marginalized and vulnerable populations by tackling these three key pillars:

workforce inclusion

We collaborate with partners to improve access to the Canadian labour market for immigrant and marginalized populations.

skill building

We equip individuals to fulfil their aspirations by providing support to organizations and projects that contribute to the acquisition of skills needed in the labour market.

early education

We develop digital skills and promote STEM to young people to expose them to opportunities and prepare them for the future workplace challenges.

employee-led volunteering and giving

In 2021, over $170,000 was raised through employee-driven initiatives such as our annual Charity Auction and the Randstad Ride for Myriam. With the pandemic, an emphasis remained on remote volunteering, with 43% of employees participating in corporate social responsibility initiatives throughout the year.

diversity and inclusion

As leaders in the future of work, we value diversity and understand the importance of having inclusive workplaces and cultures. Our approach is threefold:

  • building accountability, starting at our senior leadership levels,
  • raising awareness by promoting a growth mindset by offering continuous learning and training opportunities to our people,
  • and building meaningful connections by understanding our data, partnering with community organizations and empowering our people.
