détails d'emploi
We are looking for a Senior Backend Developer (10+ years) with deep expertise in Quality Assurance and Automation to join a software engineering team in Montreal. This role is designed for a developer with a strong sensitivity to design best practices ("Clean Code"), testability, and maintainability. You will not just code; you will define the automated testing strategy (Component, Integration, E2E) to ensure the robustness of backend services.
...
This is a 6-month contract (starting February 2, 2026, until July 31, 2026), with the potential for renewal. The role is hybrid, requiring an in-office presence in downtown Montreal (2020 Robert-Bourassa) two days per week.
Advantages
Evolve in a modern technical environment with a high level of automation.
Have a direct impact on the quality, delivery speed, and reliability of critical services.
Join a culture that encourages technical excellence, continuous learning, and "Developer Experience."
Enjoy a flexible hybrid work model in the heart of Montreal.
Responsibilities
Design, implement, and maintain component tests and integration tests for backend services.
Implement automated backend E2E tests covering critical paths, service contracts, and external integrations.
Define testable acceptance criteria and validation strategies in collaboration with product teams.
Structure and improve service testability through modularization, dependency injection, and layer isolation.
Integrate test suites into CI/CD pipelines, monitor their stability, and optimize performance to prevent regressions.
Participate in code reviews with a strict focus on quality, testability, and robustness.
Document testing strategies, conventions, and best practices to guide the team.
Qualifications
10+ years of experience in backend development (using modern frameworks and distributed architectures).
Absolute mastery of automated testing: component tests, integration tests, and specifically backend E2E tests.
Concrete experience setting up test environments (data management, mocks/stubs, contracts).
Strong understanding of microservices architectures, observability, and resilience.
Experience integrating tests into CI/CD pipelines.
"Developer-first" mindset: writing clean, tested, and maintainable code.
Bilingualism (French and English) is required.
**Our client operates in Canada. The company takes all reasonable steps to limit the number of positions in Quebec that require knowledge of a language other than French, and only requires it when necessary and its existing bilingual employees are unable to perform these duties.
Based on an assessment conducted by our client, it has been determined that this position requires candidates to be fluent in English (both spoken and written). In particular, this position will require the employee to interact with centralized internal departments (e.g., Operations / HR / Finance / Legal / Contracts / Sales) that support the organization in Canada and that do not speak French.**
Assets: Experience in performance testing, data management strategies (fixtures/seeders), and containerized environments (Docker/K8s).
Summary
We are seeking a Senior Backend Developer (10+ years) who is also an expert in test automation. If you are a pragmatic engineer aiming for technical excellence and you master E2E testing and CI/CD integration, this hybrid mandate in Montreal is for you.
