Are you an experienced BI Specialist passionate about building modern data warehouse/lakehouse solutions and reporting systems? Our client is looking for a Senior BI Specialist (Power BI & Azure) for a hybrid contract of 7 months based in Toronto, requiring 2 days onsite per week. You will work with dynamic datasets from Dynamics 365 CE and F&O, designing data models, ETL pipelines, and building interactive dashboards that drive data-driven decisions. Security clearance (CRJMC + Credit Check) is mandatory for this role.

Responsibilities
âą Design and develop a new data warehouse/lakehouse using Azure Synapse Analytics
âą Create ETL pipelines to load and transform data from Dynamics 365 CE and F&O
âą Build robust, interactive Power BI dashboards and reports, ensuring data integrity and visualization best practices
âą Design and implement data models (star/snowflake schemas) aligned to analytical and reporting needs
âą Configure Power BI gateways, DAX, and Power Query for complex reporting use cases
âą Apply best practices in data governance, security, and access management
âą Conduct SQL performance tuning, data profiling, and optimize queries for fast retrieval
âą Collaborate with cross-functional teams (data engineers, analysts, business users) to gather requirements and translate into technical solutions
âą Document all work in Azure DevOps Wiki/Boards and support ongoing knowledge transfer
âą Participate in project planning, backlog grooming, and reporting MVP definition
Qualifications

Must Have:
âą 5+ years of experience with Power BI: data modeling, dashboards, DAX, Power Query
âą Strong knowledge of data warehousing/lakehouse principles: ETL, schema design, governance
âą Experience reporting from Dynamics 365 CE and/or F&O data sources
âą Proficient in SQL Server, Azure SQL, and optimizing queries for performance
âą Experience using Azure Synapse, Azure Data Factory, or similar cloud data services
âą Understanding of data governance practices and data lifecycle management
âą Strong documentation and collaboration skills using Azure DevOps
â Nice to Have:
đ Azure certifications (e.g., Azure Fundamentals, Power BI Data Analyst Associate)
⥠Experience with Power Platform, PowerApps, and Power Automate
đ Familiarity with Dataverse, Common Data Service (CDS), and REST APIs
đ ïž Experience with SSIS/SSRS, T-SQL, and PL/SQL
đ Understanding of performance tuning, indexing, and query plan optimization
đ Experience with data security protocols and data classification
