We are seeking a seasoned Senior Java Developer to join a premier team within a leader in the Canadian property and casualty insurance industry. Responsibilities
Design, develop, and support high-performance microservices using Java and Spring Boot.
Lead the migration of legacy services from On-prem/OpenShift environments to public cloud providers (AWS, Google Cloud).
Influence Agile maturity within the team and help stakeholders prioritize high-impact requests.
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior and intermediate developers.
Ensure rigorous application security and product evolution throughout the development lifecycle.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in Java application development.
Expertise in SOA and microservices architectures (Java, Spring Boot, REST).
Proven track record in migrating Java applications to the Cloud (AWS ROSA, EKS, GCP).
Proficiency with modern tools: GitHub, Terraform, Kafka, PostgreSQL, Jenkins, and Maven.
Strong leadership skills and ability to thrive in fast-paced, multi-project environments.
Experience in the Insurance sector or with PEGA BRE is considered a strong asset.
Fluency in French and English is essential.
Our client operates in Canada. The company takes all reasonable steps to limit the number of positions in Quebec that require knowledge of a language other than French, and only requires it when necessary and its existing bilingual employees are unable to perform these duties. Based on an assessment conducted by our client, it has been determined that this position requires candidates to be fluent in English (both spoken and written). In particular, this position will require the employee to interact with centralized internal departments (e.g., Operations / HR / Finance / Legal / Contracts / Sales) that support the organization in Canada and that do not speak French.
Summary
Location: Hybrid (St-Hyacinthe 2 days/week, with potential for Montreal office days).
Experience Level: Senior (10+ years).
Contract Type: Long-term consulting with permanent potential.
