Our client is looking for a Systems Administrator/Operations Support Specialist to join their team for a contract of 9 months. The ideal candidate will bring over 10 years of experience managing large-scale mainframe infrastructures, providing technical leadership, and ensuring the reliability and optimization of batch processing, job scheduling, SFTP/FTP, and print file delivery etc. The position is based in Toronto and follows a hybrid model with 3 days onsite and 2 days remote work per week.

đ Drive system automation, monitoring, and recovery procedures

đ Own the process documentation, change management, and incident resolution strategies
Responsibilities
âą Lead and coordinate batch and online job scheduling using CA-7 and related tools
âą Manage file transfers (SFTP/FTP) and ensure reliable print file creation and delivery
âą Provide 24/7 operational support for mission-critical systems
âą Develop and implement procedures for job scheduling, automation, and incident response
âą Guide production control teams through change and release management processes
âą Perform root cause analysis of production incidents and lead recovery efforts
âą Document all operational procedures, changes, and post-implementation reports
âą Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure batch and online processes meet service level expectations
Qualifications
Must Have:
âą 10+ years of hands-on experience in mainframe batch processing support
âą Proven background in large-scale enterprise environments with complex IT infrastructure
âą In-depth experience with CA-7, JCL, TSO/ISPF, FTP, View and Deliver, DB2, IMS
âą Strong leadership in production control procedures and automation strategies
âą Demonstrated experience in supporting mission-critical systems, including 24/7 availability
âą Solid knowledge of recovery procedures, incident and change management, and ITIL frameworks
Nice to Have:
âą Recent (within 3 years) experience in a public sector or large-scale operational setting
âą Strong documentation, communication, and process development skills
âą Experience coordinating release schedules and leading cross-functional technical teams
