Fast-Track Your Ticket: Apprentice Welder (1st or 2nd-Year)
Location: Thorsby, Alberta (Escape the city traffic! Candidates must be local or within a 40-minute commute).
Compensation: $24.00 to $26.00 / hour + Significant Overtime Potential
Schedule: Day Shift (Monday to Thursday)
...
Are you an experienced apprentice tired of the big-city shop grind where you are treated like a glorified floor sweeper instead of a future journeyperson? If you already have the required hands-on experience and are hungry for a crew that actually invests in advancing your skills, your search ends here. Located just outside the city hustle in Thorsby, our fabrication facility is looking for dedicated, seasoned talent ready to rack up legitimate, high-quality apprenticeship hours.
Please note: This role requires significant prior hood time. We are specifically looking for apprentices who already possess a strong technical foundation and around 2000 officially logged hours.
Advantages
Skyrocket Your Bluebook Hours: This is our biggest draw. We absolutely guarantee you won't be stuck doing mindless, repetitive grinding all day. You will rapidly accumulate valuable, highly diverse hours working on top-tier structural steel projects to get your ticket faster.
The Ultimate 4-Day Workweek: Enjoy a compressed Monday through Thursday schedule. That means zero Friday commutes and a guaranteed three-day weekend to hunt, fish, or just recharge—every single week.
Serious Earning Potential: Don't let the base rate fool you. We have massive amounts of overtime up for grabs. If you have the work ethic and want to hustle, we have the hours to help you stack cash.
Total Package Provided: You get full access to necessary shop tools, comprehensive benefits, plus two weeks of paid time off.
Unshakable Job Security: This is not a temporary gig; it is a permanent, long-term career move within a highly supportive, team-oriented shop.
Responsibilities
We will never sideline you with endless shop cleanup or mundane tasks. Instead, you will be right on the floor, striking arcs side-by-side with seasoned journeymen to drastically elevate your trade skills:
- Precision Flux-Core: Master the nuances of FCAW and MCAW applications (Flat Position) on heavy-duty projects.
- Structural Fabrication: Get directly involved in assembling massive I-beams, intricate tower sections, and unique structural frameworks.
- Specialty Methods: Gain regular, hands-on experience using complex custom jigs and perfecting standoff welding procedures.
- Elite Safety Standards: Fully adopt and practice our industry-leading, zero-compromise approach to safe manufacturing protocols.
Qualifications
Current Apprenticeship Level: You need to hold an active registration as either a first-year or second-year welding apprentice. (Note: 2nd-year apprentices are highly preferred for this role).
Proven Experience: We are looking for candidates who can hit the ground running, requiring at least 2,000 hours officially stamped in your Bluebook.
Technical Background: Previous hands-on exposure to FCAW, MCAW, or MIG welding processes is preferred.
Professional Character: We expect total punctuality, rock-solid reliability, and a relentless, eager-to-learn attitude on the shop floor.
Bonus Credentials: Holding an up-to-date CWB ticket is a massive asset that will put your application right at the front of the line.
