As a GL Accountant, you will play a pivotal role within the Controlling job function. Your primary mission is to ensure the integrity of the general ledger and provide critical financial insights that drive management decisions. This is a full-time, onsite contract position based at a prestigious office at 181 Bay Street, Toronto.
Contract Duration: 6 Months (Starting March 17, 2026)
Extension Potential: There is a strong possibility for extension or conversion to a permanent Full-Time Employee (FTE) role based on performance and business needs.
Work Model: 100% Onsite (Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM).

Responsibilities
In this high-impact GL Accountant role, your day-to-day will involve:
• Financial Reporting: Preparing income statements, balance sheets, and specialized financial reports for commercial properties.
• General Ledger Mastery: Creating month-end entries, calculating monthly recoveries, and performing bank and balance sheet reconciliations (SOX package).
• Analysis & Recommendations: Evaluating variances and making strategic recommendations regarding cash reserves, assets, and forecasting/budgeting.
• Tenant Relations: Managing billings, accounts receivables, and performing year-end reconciliations and CAM statement audits.
• Compliance: Preparing monthly HST reports and applying IFRS principles to property accounting.
• Collaboration: Exchanging information across departments to solve standard problems and meet tight deadlines.
Qualifications
Must Haves:
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).
• Experience: Up to 3 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably within real estate or property management.
• Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Analytical Ability: Intermediate to advanced math skills and the ability to interpret complex financial figures and variances.
• Soft Skills: A strong work ethic, an inquisitive mindset, and the ability to meet rigid deadlines.
Nice to Haves:
• Software: Hands-on experience with Yardi accounting software.
• Certification: Active enrollment in the CPA program.
• Industry Knowledge: Prior experience with CAM (Common Area Maintenance) reconciliations or IFRS.
