Responsibilities
• Own and manage the complete accounting and bookkeeping cycle from transaction processing through to comprehensive financial reporting.
• Maintain precise bookkeeping records, including coding transactions, posting ledger entries, and executing monthly account reconciliations.
• Oversee and execute accounts payable, accounts receivable, corporate payroll, bank reconciliations, GST/HST, and corporate tax filings.
• Lead collections efforts and manage the timely settlement of outstanding accounts receivable and accounts payable balances.
• Perform detailed financial reconciliations for corporate locations, balancing deposits, credit card transactions, and related general ledger accounts.
• Manage complex accounting workflows for intercompany transactions and maintain balanced corporate structures.
• Monitor daily cash flow, working capital, and overall corporate liquidity.
• Administer corporate loans, tracking payment schedules, interest calculations, documentation, and corresponding accounting entries.
• Support annual budgeting, rolling forecasting, and mid-term financial planning activities.
• Conduct rigorous cost accounting analysis related to food cost variances, inventory usage, and warehouse operations to identify profitability trends.
• Develop and monitor specific financial key performance indicators (KPIs) to provide actionable insights to senior leadership.
• Coordinate seamlessly with external accountants, auditors, financial institutions, lenders, and government agencies.
• Establish, implement, and audit internal controls while continuously improving general accounting processes.
• Perform financial performance audits on independent franchise partners.
Qualifications
• Advanced expertise in QuickBooks Online and cloud accounting ecosystems.
• Deep understanding of full-cycle corporate payroll, budgeting, and mid-term financial forecasting models.
• Excellent financial analysis, data interpretation, and report presentation skills.
• High level of structural organization, sharp attention to detail, and a proven ability to work independently.
• Strategic mindset tailored to driving profitability within a fast-paced retail or hospitality model.
• Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a directly related business field.
• Minimum of 4 years of progressive full-cycle corporate accounting experience.
• Prior professional experience within a franchising, hospitality, or multi-unit restaurant network is highly advantageous.
• Ability to work 100% on-site at the corporate office in Burlington, Ontario.
