oBonus: Working knowledge of SQL for data validation and reporting.
Advantages
This position offers the rare stability of a long-term contract running through December 2027, providing both job security and a comprehensive benefits package (health, dental, and life insurance). Employees enjoy a family-oriented, supportive workplace culture that prioritizes work-life balance with standard 7.5 to 8-hour workdays. Furthermore, you will gain high-value experience leading a major Sage Intacct system conversion, allowing you to make a tangible impact on the department's digital infrastructure while working closely with senior leadership.
Responsibilities
As a "working manager," you will lead a team of six while directly executing daily accounting tasks, including reconciliations, journal entries, and a 15-day month-end close. You will oversee payroll functions via ADP/Payworks and manage the transition from legacy Sage software to Sage Intacct. A critical part of the role involves operational deep dives, where you will investigate financial variances to provide C-suite executives with clear, data-driven explanations. You will also manage the year-end audit process and ensure internal controls are strictly followed across the service-sector operations.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate possesses 5–10 years of progressive accounting experience within a high-volume, transactional environment. Canadian experience is a mandatory requirement for this role, as is a strong working knowledge of Sage accounting systems. Proficiency in Advanced Excel (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables) is essential, and while not required, a knowledge of SQL or a professional CPA designation is considered a significant asset. You must demonstrate a "roll-up-your-sleeves" leadership style and the ability to maintain process discipline in a fast-paced setting.
