Responsibilities
- You will be the vital link ensuring the smooth functioning of the finance department, supporting both day-to-day operations and strategic financial initiatives.
- Financial Operations Management: Oversee and manage daily accounting functions, including AP, AR, credit cards, intercompany transactions, advanced accounting entries, bank, and treasury transactions.
- System Implementation: Actively assist with the implementation, integration, and adoption of new financial systems and AI tools (such as Dex or similar payments/expense software) to drive efficiency.
- Month/Year-End & Reporting: Lead support for the month-end and year-end close processes, preparing accurate financial statements and internal reports for executive leadership.
- Project Costing: Collaborate closely with project managers and operations to accurately track and report on project costs, supporting robust job costing and reporting processes.
- Cash Management & Planning: Manage cash flow tracking and forecasting to support operational and strategic needs.
- Guidance & Mentorship: Serve as a technical resource to guide and coach the fairly junior finance team, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment.
- Process Improvement: Identify issues and recommend continuous improvements to internal financial processes and reporting to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
Qualifications
We are looking for a driven, roll-up-your-sleeves, ambitious professional who thrives in a dynamic environment and is eager for rapid career progression.
Must-Haves:
- CPA Designation or Near-CPA: Must be a CPA or actively nearing completion of the designation.
- Experience: Minimum of 4–5 years of progressive post-university experience in accounting, ready to take on a Manager title.
- System Savvy: Proven experience assisting with or leading system implementation, integration, or large-scale adoption projects (e.g., payments, expense, or accounting software).
Qualifications:
- Strong experience managing core accounting operations, including AP, AR, and full month-end close processes.
- Experience with job costing and project-based accounting is highly desirable, though not mandatory.
- High proficiency in accounting applications and strong Excel skills for data analysis, reporting, and modeling.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and a focus on process efficiency and accurate record-keeping.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for collaboration with junior staff, project managers, and executive leaders.
