Our client, is seeking a high-performing Application Developer IV (Senior Backend Lead) to join their core technology engineering group.
...
In this mission-critical backend role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and supporting scalable, resilient, and secure microservices that power complex mortgage and lending workflows. The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise in Java Spring Boot, microservices architecture, and modern Camunda 8 workflow orchestration (BPMN modeling, connectors, and workers). Operating within an Agile product team, you will build secure, API-first services, implement cloud-native deployments on Microsoft Azure (AKS, Helm, APIM), and enforce robust DevSecOps practices to deliver high-concurrency, low-latency financial systems.
Duration: Contract (09/21/2026 to 12/31/2026, with potential for extension)
Advantages
High-Impact Mission-Critical Scope: Direct the architectural implementation and backend execution for core enterprise mortgage and lending systems.
Modern Orchestration Sandbox: Build production-grade API orchestration flows utilizing cutting-edge Camunda 8 workflow engines deployed on Kubernetes.
Cloud-Native Engineering: Implement containerized microservices across Microsoft Azure infrastructure (APIM, Key Vault, AKS, Managed Identities).
Agile Collaborative Culture: Work alongside skilled software architects, QA engineers, product owners, and technical business analysts in a modern DevSecOps environment.
Responsibilities
Backend & Camunda 8 Workflow Orchestration
Workflow Design & Engineering: Design and deploy resilient backend microservices for end-to-end mortgage and lending workflows using Java Spring Boot and cloud-native design patterns.
Camunda 8 Implementation: Architect, maintain, and optimize workflow orchestration solutions using Camunda 8, including BPMN process models, custom connectors, and scalable task workers.
Fault Tolerance & Resilience: Implement distributed systems resilience patterns (circuit breakers, retries, timeouts, fallback handlers) to guarantee operational stability.
API, Cloud Platform & DevSecOps Engineering
API-First Development: Design and build secure RESTful APIs adhering to OpenAPI specifications, securing endpoints with OAuth, identity management, and fine-grained access controls.
Containerization & Deployment: Deploy, package, and maintain containerized microservices on Kubernetes (AKS) using Helm charts and infrastructure-aware configurations.
Observability & DevSecOps: Integrate telemetry, logging, metrics, and distributed tracing using New Relic and the ELK Stack. Drive automated CI/CD pipelines, TDD/BDD practices, and security scanning (SAST/SCA).
Qualifications
Professional Experience: 8 to 10+ years of professional software engineering experience with a dedicated backend microservices and platform development focus.
Camunda 8 Mastery: Hands-on experience developing applications on Camunda 8, including BPMN modeling, connectors, and worker implementation.
Java Spring Boot & Microservices: Expert-level mastery of Java Spring Boot and distributed microservices architectures.
API & Integration Depth: Expert knowledge in API-driven development (OpenAPI, OAuth, REST, messaging, event streaming, distributed tracing).
Cloud & Platform Skills: Proven experience with cloud platform services (preferably Microsoft Azure: APIM, Key Vault, Identities) and container orchestration using Kubernetes / AKS and Helm charts.
Observability & Testing: Experience with monitoring tools (New Relic, ELK Stack) and Agile delivery methodologies (CI/CD, TDD/BDD/DDD, SAST/SCA scan remediation).
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
Preferred Assets & Nice-to-Haves
Direct backend engineering experience within Mortgage, Consumer Lending, or Regulated Financial Services domains.
Hands-on experience deploying or managing a self-managed Camunda 8 cluster in Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).
Summary
If you are a tech-savvy Application Developer IV who pairs 8+ years of Java Spring Boot microservices engineering with hands-on Camunda 8 workflow orchestration expertise and Azure Kubernetes deployment skills, this backend contract opportunity is an outstanding match. Bring your workflow precision, API expertise, and collaborative DevSecOps mindset to our client's engineering team today!
