Are you ready to step into a highly unique leadership role on behalf of a massive, complex organization undergoing a historic transformation? Would you love to leave your professional legacy on a multi-billion-dollar infrastructure and capital investment program that will span the next decade?
...
To support this monumental build, we are seeking an Associate Director, Corporate & Construction Insurance Services who can answer "yes" to the following:
- Do you have the expertise to build and operationalize an Owner Controlled Insurance Program (OCIP) entirely from scratch, rather than just stepping in to manage an existing one?
- Are you capable of overseeing a massive dual-portfolio, managing approximately $13-14 million in corporate premiums and upwards of $15 million annually for the construction and development side?
- Are you eager to act as the strategic "client-side" owner who brings an insurance program to life on the ground alongside contractors, designers, and project delivery teams?
Advantages
- Compensation: Excellent base salary plus a 15% annual bonus
- Generous leave right from the start, including 4 weeks of vacation, 5 PTO days, and 10 sick days
- Health Benefits: Comprehensive coverage starting on day one through Sun Life
- Retirement & Savings: A highly attractive 8% employer match, along with additional voluntary savings options such as RRSPs, TFSAs, and Non-Registered Savings Plans
- A hybrid work schedule (3 core days in-office from Monday to Wednesday) , supplemented by fully covered on-site parking for the employee
- The organization offers continuous internal and external learning opportunities, as well as a meaningful reward and recognition program
Responsibilities
- Build & Operationalize: Strategically design and implement a new OCIP to cover a 10-year mega-build, ensuring that contractors and designers are covered while you manage the program directly as the owner
- Corporate Portfolio Management: Alongside the construction builds, you will govern the organization's standard corporate insurance needs, including property, liability, and D&O coverages
- Client-Side Integration: Act as the internal expert, partnering proactively with project delivery teams, quality control, and contractors to bring the insurance program to life on the ground
- Data Storytelling: Take complex, multi-layered risk data (like a 100-page report) and distill it into concise, 4-page decision-ready presentations for executive leadership
- Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a specialized team, initially consisting of two direct reports, with a third vacant headcount you will help define and hire
Qualifications
We are heavily prioritizing talents who have been on the owner/buyer side of large-scale infrastructure or real estate development
- While exceptional broker-side candidates with large infrastructure client experience will be considered, you must understand how to interact with an operational business and contractors, not just how to place a policy
- Adaptable & Curious: This organization is fast-paced and evolving; someone who requires a rigid, "black-and-white" playbook or struggles with change management will not thrive here
- We need an innovator who is curious and excited by the fact that no two days—or renewals—are the same
- Relationship-Driven: We are looking for a proactive leader who gets out into the business to build trust, rather than an underwriter who prefers to hide behind a keyboard
- Qualifications: You bring 7+ years of progressive experience handling complex, multi-line portfolios, specifically with wrap-up, environmental, and OCIP policies
- A professional designation (CIP, FCIP, CRM, or ARM) is required
