Position Title: Business Analyst I (Fixed Income Settlements)
Location: Toronto, ON (Downtown)
Work Arrangement: Hybrid (2 days in office / 3 days work from home; subject to operational updates)
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week (Core business hours; OT eligible)
Contract Duration: 18 months (Possibility of extension or conversion based on performance and business needs)

Responsibilities
Settlements Management: Perform daily CAD settlements for repo, pledge, bond, and safekeeping trades. Manage and resolve Fixed Income settlement exceptions in CDS and CDCC.
Reconciliation & Investigation: Investigate and resolve cash breaks and depository breaks promptly while adhering to strict SLAs.
Risk & Compliance: Identify risk in cash wire payments and escalate potential issues appropriately.
Stakeholder Collaboration: Build strong working relationships with internal capital markets business partners, regional/global settlement teams, and external depository vendors.
Process Improvement & Documentation: Identify opportunities to streamline operational processes, coordinate process documentation, and ensure knowledge continuity.
Team Operations: Manage individual and shared team mailboxes, cross-train on settlement desks to ensure coverage, attend regular team meetings, and assist with ad hoc requests (e.g., audit confirmations).
General Accountabilities
Innovation: Contribute to a forward-thinking environment focused on working smarter and simpler.
Critical Thinking: Apply strong risk management concepts while understanding the core needs of internal business partners and clients.

Qualifications
Must-Have Requirements
Experience: 1+ years of experience in financial services/customer service with exposure to fixed income products or settlements.
Technical Skills: Basic to intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (specifically Excel).
Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills for cross-functional and external stakeholder interactions.
Core Competencies: Strong time management, priority management, sharp attention to detail, and a self-starter mindset.
Nice-to-Have Qualifications
Knowledge or hands-on experience with the Canadian Depository for Securities (CDS).
Educational background in finance, economics, or coursework related to fixed income, bonds, and principal values.
Prior experience working within a major bank or financial institution.
Canadian Securities Course (CSC) certification.
Post-secondary degree or diploma in a related field.
