In this full-stack analytics role, you will take direct ownership of enterprise-scale Power BI environments—moving beyond basic dashboard creation to design scalable star schemas, calculation groups, and row-level security models that establish a unified single source of truth. Operating as a principal BI specialist, you will maintain data pipelines across the Microsoft cloud ecosystem (Azure, Databricks, Fabric), automate operational workflows using Python and Power Platform, and support the ongoing maintenance of an existing production R/Shiny application. This position is ideal for a self-directed analytics expert who pairs deep DAX and SQL capabilities with executive presentation skills and an ability to translate ambiguous business questions into structured analytical frameworks.
Duration: 8-Month Contract (with high potential for extension)
Work Arrangement: 100% Fully Remote
Advantages
100% Fully Remote Autonomy: Enjoy complete work-from-home flexibility from anywhere within the region.
Full Semantic Ownership: Serve as the primary architect for enterprise-scale semantic models, row-level security frameworks, and workspace deployment pipelines.
Modern Cloud Data Ecosystem: Expand your technical portfolio working directly across Microsoft Azure, Databricks, Fabric, and Power Platform tooling.
High Executive Visibility: Architect and deliver executive-grade self-service analytics tools, automated reporting platforms, and AI-powered workflow solutions used directly by enterprise leadership.
Responsibilities
Analytics, Power BI & Semantic Modeling
Enterprise Semantic Architecture: Own the architecture and ongoing development of enterprise Power BI semantic models—designing scalable star schemas, complex relationships, and calculation groups to serve as a consistent source of truth.
Executive Dashboard Delivery: Design and construct polished, executive-grade reports and self-service BI tools tailored for senior leadership and operational leads.
Advanced DAX & Governance: Develop and maintain advanced DAX measures, time intelligence functions, and custom metrics; administer Power BI workspaces, row-level security (RLS), capacity allocations, and deployment pipelines.
Legacy Modernization: Replace legacy manual reporting processes with dynamic, automated, and data-driven solutions.
Data Architecture & Engineering
Pipeline & Data Source Optimization: Design data integration patterns and standardized data models that feed reporting layers, leveraging the Microsoft data ecosystem (Azure, Databricks, Fabric).
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with platform engineering teams to construct custom database views, support semantic layers, and resolve complex data reconciliation issues across disparate systems.
Data Quality Management: Detect, escalate, and resolve data quality anomalies impacting core executive KPIs.
Application Support & AI Automation
R/Shiny Application Maintenance: Support the ongoing maintenance and incremental development of an existing production R/Shiny web application, implementing minor feature additions, bug fixes, and data integration updates using Git.
Workflow Automation: Build operational automations using Python, Power Platform, Power Automate, Copilot Studio, and enterprise communication channels (Microsoft Teams).
Applied AI Integration: Implement AI-powered workflow tools and practical machine learning methods (forecasting, anomaly detection, clustering) into daily analytics while adhering to responsible AI governance.
Qualifications
Power BI & Semantic Modeling Mastery: Demonstrated expertise architecting and administering enterprise-scale Power BI solutions, including advanced DAX, star schemas, calculation groups, row-level security (RLS), and workspace deployment pipelines.
Core Data & Querying Languages: High technical proficiency in SQL, DAX, and Python.
Microsoft Cloud Ecosystem: Solid working knowledge of cloud data architecture across Microsoft Azure, Databricks, and Fabric.
R & Shiny Application Literacy: Working knowledge of R and Shiny sufficient to maintain, debug, and lightly extend an existing production application.
Automation & Applied AI: Proven experience constructing automated workflows (Power Platform, Python) and integrating AI-powered analytics tools.
Soft Skills: Exceptional technical communication and presentation abilities; a self-directed problem solver capable of managing complex stakeholder expectations independently.
Summary
If you are a tech-savvy Business Intelligence Analyst who pairs an absolute command of enterprise Power BI semantic modeling, DAX, and SQL with the data pipeline familiarity (Azure, Databricks, Fabric) and R/Shiny skills required to support executive reporting ecosystems, this 100% remote 8-month contract is an outstanding opportunity. Bring your data modeling precision, workflow automation skills, and collaborative focus to our client's technology operations team today!
