Responsibilities
- Maintain SAP system and ensure suppliers' on-time delivery of parts and units in EDI.
- Plan short- and long-term supply and demand to support inventory needs.
- Prepare yearly and monthly forecasts to optimize inventory levels.
- Distribute weekly forecasts as firm orders to material and component suppliers, monitoring daily releases to ensure on-time delivery.
- Follow up on supplier deliveries, manage shortages, and expedite orders to avoid additional costs.
- Manage inventory to meet plant and corporate objectives, scheduling inbound freight efficiently.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers.
- Resolve supplier invoice discrepancies related to pricing or quantity.
- Investigate inventory discrepancies, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions.
- Provide daily reports on inventory discrepancies.
- Set preferred safety stock levels to ensure consistent availability of materials.
- Strengthen relationships with transportation teams, supervisors, and coworkers to enhance performance.
- Develop and monitor internal and external KPIs, including forecast accuracy and vendor metrics.
- Serve as a backup for buyers’ duties when needed.
- Manage key supplier relationships to maintain quality, delivery timelines, and contract compliance.
- Review inventory levels of purchased materials to align with department and company goals for inventory turnover.
- Analyze missing materials for assigned suppliers and take necessary actions.
Qualifications
Education: Degree in business, logistics, inventory management, or a related field preferred.
Experience: 3+ years in material planning, inventory management, purchasing, or a related role.
Organizational Skills: Strong ability to manage time and prioritize tasks efficiently.
Industry Knowledge: Understanding of manufacturing processes and supply chain management.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office and material management systems.
Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Excel Proficiency: Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
SAP Knowledge: Familiarity with SAP is preferred.
