Our client, Is seeking a highly skilled, senior-level C++ DevOps Engineer (Build & Release Specialist) to join their core software development and architecture division.
...
Reporting to the Director of Software Development and Architecture, you will assume complete engineering ownership over the design, implementation, and continuous optimization of the software build, packaging, release, and deployment ecosystem supporting a large-scale, high-availability, Linux-based C++ platform. In this senior technical role, you will bridge the gap between core C++ engineering and modern infrastructure operations, creating reliable, scalable, and fully automated compilation and delivery systems. Your mission is to ensure rapid development velocity while maintaining the highest standards of compilation efficiency, code quality, repeatability, and security in a highly regulated enterprise environment.
Duration: 3-Month Contract-to-Hire (High potential for permanent conversion)
Work Arrangement: 100% Remote (Candidates must be based in Canada)
Language Requirement: Bilingualism in French and English is required due to frequent collaboration with bilingual teams and stakeholders.
Advantages
Direct Pathway to Permanent Placement: Secure a stable contract-to-hire opportunity with a major financial institution offering a defined path to long-term career growth.
Complex Architectural Scale: Own the build infrastructure for a massive, mission-critical, and highly modular C++ codebase that powers high-availability transaction systems.
Modern Tooling & Infrastructure: Drive the adoption of advanced compilation, caching, and infrastructure-as-code patterns (Docker/Podman, Ansible, Kubernetes).
Remote Flexibility: Enjoy the convenience of working 100% remotely from anywhere in Canada within a highly collaborative, cross-functional environment.
Responsibilities
Build System Engineering & Compilation Optimization
Automated Pipeline Development: Architect, configure, and maintain highly automated end-to-end build pipelines for complex C++ applications using CMake, GLIBC, libstdc++, Make, Maven, Ninja, or Bazel.
Compilation Tuning: Analyze compile-time performance, optimize dependency graphs, and implement build caching and parallel compilation strategies to reduce feedback loops.
Toolchain & Library Management: Manage compiler versions (GCC, Clang, MSVC), SDKs, and third-party libraries, ensuring structural compatibility, linker alignment, and licensing compliance.
Cross-Platform Engineering: Support cross-platform, multi-architecture build configurations (Linux, Windows, macOS) when required.
CI/CD, Packaging & Release Automation
Continuous Delivery: Implement and govern robust CI/CD workflows using GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins, or Azure DevOps to automate compilation, automated unit testing, static code analysis, and artifact publication.
Software Packaging: Package software for production deployment using standardized enterprise release processes, focusing heavily on RPM packaging and containerization (Docker / Podman).
Versioning & Artifact Registry: Enforce automated versioning, tagging, and release management workflows, managing binary publications within secure artifact repositories (such as Artifactory or Nexus).
Supply Chain Security: Integrate AppSec scanning systems, including SAST/DAST tools and static analysis frameworks, to safeguard the software supply chain.
Infrastructure & Team Collaboration
Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Maintain build-node infrastructure utilizing Ansible, Kubernetes, Satellite, and scripting utilities.
Developer Enablement: Partner closely with C++ Developers, QA teams, and Systems Engineers to debug complex linking failures, resolve integration bottlenecks, and streamline environment setup.
Technical Governance: Maintain clear documentation of build processes, promote best practices in release engineering, and influence coding and automation standards across multiple product teams.
Qualifications
Experience: 10+ years of progressive professional experience in software engineering, build automation, or release engineering, specifically supporting large-scale, high-availability production platforms.
C++ and Linux Expertise: Expert-level command of C++ compilation dynamics, Linux (RHEL), the GCC toolchain, and GLIBC.
Build Tool Mastery: Strong proficiency with advanced build automation tools such as CMake, Make, Maven, Ninja, SCons, or Bazel.
Bilingual Communication: Fluency in both French and English (written and spoken) is required to support cross-regional business teams.
CI/CD & Version Control: Proven, hands-on experience designing pipeline workflows using GitLab CI/CD (preferred), Jenkins, or Azure DevOps alongside expert-level Git knowledge.
Scripting Skills: Strong scripting and automation skills utilizing Python, Bash, Perl, or PowerShell.
Advanced Systems Packaging: Experience with RPM packaging, container virtualization (Docker/Podman), and shared/static library management.
Education: University degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent practical enterprise experience).
Preferred Assets
Experience operating within the Financial Services or banking industry, particularly in high-frequency or high-availability operational environments.
Practical knowledge of infrastructure automation and orchestration systems such as Ansible, Kubernetes, and Satellite.
Prior exposure to cybersecurity principles, static analysis platforms, and SAST/DAST tool integrations.
Summary
If you are a senior-level C++ DevOps Engineer who pairs an absolute command of C++ compilation, GCC toolchains, and CMake with the automated pipeline depth (GitLab CI/CD, Ansible) required to scale massive Linux-based financial platforms, this remote contract-to-hire opportunity is an exceptional match. Bring your build optimization precision, release-engineering discipline, and collaborative leadership to our client's core architecture team today!
