Responsibilities
Provides a clear vision and implements programs and prevention plans that contribute to a culture of excellence in EHS.
Under the supervision of the EHS manager, you will promote health, safety, and the work environment (EHS) to create a healthy and safe workplace for all employees
Acts as a coach/mentor/resource for major EHS issues for the operation.
Coordinates environment, health and safety activities within the company, such as the health and safety committee and coordination.
Work with the union safety representative to investigate and monitor trends in accidents, incidents, inspections, audits, and corrective actions.
Act as a coach and advisor for management of the EHS (Health, Safety, and Environment).
Manage the reporting, investigation, and analysis program for events and assist in managing return-to-work processes.
Contribute to the development and implementation of various EHS programs and procedures (ergonomics, lockout/tagout, scheduled inspections, waste management and audits, etc.) and ensure compliance with requirements.
Organize activities to promote employee awareness, increase participation, and encourage safe behaviors.
Maintain the EHS management system (ISO 14001 and ISO 45001) and participate in internal and external audits.
Ensures that key performance indicators (KPIs) are updated, monitored, and maintained, and ensures that measures are taken to improve EHS performance.
Qualifications
Skills:
Must be bilingual, written and spoken in French and English.
On-site presence with a positive, professional, and reliable attitude.
Autonomy, initiative, and ability to work in a team.
Strategic thinking skills - seeking original solutions.
Good communication and interpersonal relationship skills.
Ability to work independently and in a team atmosphere.
Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Environment, Health, and Safety and/or relevant certificate or diploma.
Advanced knowledge of the Microsoft suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Familiar with laws, regulations, standards, and requirements of the CNESST that are applicable to the business.
Good knowledge of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards.
Knowledge of industrial hygiene is an asset.
Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in a similar position, unionized environment is a plus.
